A Traditional Offset with a Few Modern Touches

Steeped in traditional styling with a few modern flourishes, the Sire Larry Carlton J3 embodies everything offset aficionados love about their favorite asymmetrical axes. You’ll appreciate the contoured comfort provided by the J3’s offset-waist, JM-shaped body, which is carved from a solid hunk of mahogany. This solidbody electric guitar’s “C”-shape hard maple neck is a pleasure to wrap your hand around, and its 22-fret, 9.5-inch-radius fingerboard with rolled edges assures you a slick playability that’s second to none. The J3 churns out a range of tones, from bright and twangy to thick and syrupy, by way of its LC Standard JM-style single-coil pickups. You’ll also revel in the expressive maneuverability of this guitar’s standard 2-post tremolo. The J3 comes ready to rumble with a bone nut, die-cast tuners, gleaming chrome hardware, and a classic-style pickguard. Are you searching for a classy offset with a playful disposition? If so, you’ll get endless mileage out of the Sire J3.

Head-turning offset mahogany body

Carved from a solid slab of mahogany, Sweetwater guitarists have discovered the J3’s classic JM-shaped body is ready for the spotlight. Mahogany offers a delightfully resonant acoustic sound with excellent sustain. When you plug in, you’ll appreciate how ergonomic this axe feels; from stem to stern, this offset beauty is an alt-rock aficionado’s dream come true.

Versatile JM-style single-coil pickups

The Sire J3 comes equipped with LC Standard JM-style pickups. These multifaceted single-coils deliver bright, glassy tones — especially from the bridge pickup — and thick-as-molasses tones by the truckload. This electric guitar also includes a 3-way pickup toggle switch, along with global volume and tone controls, for added tonal versatility.

Comfortable playability

One thing’s for sure: the J3 was built to be played. Its “C”-shape hard maple neck plays like a dream, and its 22-fret, 9.5-inch-radius fingerboard, which includes smooth rolled edges, facilitates fleet-fingered fretboard maneuvers like nothing else. The J3 includes a bone nut and reliable die-cast tuners.

Reviews

This guitar is an absolute steal

I'm blown away by the quality of this guitar. For $, I was expecting the usual cheap guitar flaws, but this guitar is flawless. I've ordered guitars online before, and this is the first time I've received one that was completely set up - no string buzz, perfect intonation, nice string height, and it was even (kinda) tuned! Seriously, buy one before they raise the price - you won't regret it.

Insane guitar for great price!
Ive been playing bass for years and have been wanting a decent guitar to play with. I love the jazzmaster style and couldnt justify geting a fender, but this thing has blown me away. Hardware is great and the pickups sound on par with the higher end fenders. The setup out of the box was perfect!
Second Sire, just as happy.
Purchased a Sire S7 from Sweetwater about a year ago and was quite surprised with the playability and overall construction of the instrument.
When I saw and heard a few demos of the J3 on YouTube,I liked what I heard but was a little skeptical. If I didn't own the S7 I would have probably never purchased the J3. Sire's quality control is so good, figured I would give it a shot.Couldn't be happier with the purchase. The guitar looks awesome and plays great. Thanks to my sales rep Greg Okeefe, for expediting the order so quickly and whose valued input is always appreciated.

3.5 stars
This is a good guitar, plays well, sounds good, but in my opinion, my similarly priced (slightly higher) Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster just beats it in the bang for the buck category. If I did not have that guitar I would have rates this guitar higher.
