The World-class Spector NS-2
"World-class" only begins to describe this incredible Spector USA NS-2 bass guitar. A sublime expression of the luthier’s art, the short-scale take on this flawless instrument is handcrafted in Spector’s USA Custom Shop by the company’s most experienced master builders using only the finest tonewoods and electronics. Playability is off the charts, featuring a fast 3-piece maple through-neck capped with an ebony fingerboard, buffed to perfection with rolled edges for a silky-smooth feel. The NS-2’s classic, sleekly sculpted body is comprised of maple, topped with gorgeously figured quilted maple. This premium tonewood combination provides a punchy tonal foundation for a set of EMG X series pickups feeding a Spector HAZ9V preamp with 2-band EQ — a powerful tone engine that can ace any musical challenge, onstage or in the studio. Dressed to kill in an eye-popping finish, this custom Spector USA NS-2 bass is one of a kind, crafted for comfort, performance, and maximum expression.

A massive arsenal of muscular tone
When it comes to accurately capturing the full tonal range of the Spector NS-2 bass, EMG’s X series pickup set does the job handily. EMG X series pickups leverage an advanced high-output design that delivers increased headroom and overall fatness, along with the lucidity and dynamic response for which EMG pickups are cherished. The split-coil pickup in the neck position is fitted in Spector’s reverse-P configuration, which maximizes low-end articulation while rounding out notes played on the high strings. This makes sense in a P/J-equipped bass, as you can dial in as much aggressive growl as you want from the J-type bridge pickup and add high end to taste with the 2-band EQ. Onstage and in the studio, the onboard HAZ9V preamp drives long cable runs and buffers complex processing chains without a hint of noise, making it a favorite of professional bassists worldwide.

The bass that fits like a glove
Stuart Spector (with the input of Ned Steinberger) developed the sleekly sculpted NS body design in 1977, prioritizing the player's comfort for possibly the first time in the history of the bass guitar. Players quickly took note, with iconic bassists such as Garry Tallent, Ian Hill, Rudy Sarzo, and countless others taking to the stage with Spector basses. This iconic body style feels supremely comfortable against your body and arm. Immediately recognizable with its rounded contours that resemble a worn bar of soap, the NS body shape hugs your torso and balances perfectly, whether you’re playing seated, standing, or prancing about the stage like a wild antelope! At Sweetwater, we’ve seen it time and again: once you play an NS bass, you’re hooked.
