Tape and Console Emulator in One
Tape machines of the past were always paired with mixing consoles. Signals were recorded through a console’s preamps and channel strips onto tape, then played back and mixed through the same desk. This all-analog sound and workflow are precisely what the Overloud Tapedesk plug-in promises to re-create in your sessions. Choose between three world-class console emulations to color your signal, then dig in hard to the virtual tape machine — based on an inimitable 2" 24-track of the late 1970s — to extract rich analog warmth, compression, and saturation. Tapedesk's low CPU load means you can use it across every single one of your tracks, just like yesterday’s producers did in the analog domain. Looking for analog tape character? You’ll find it here in the Overloud Tapedesk plug-in from Sweetwater.

Choose from three world-class console emulations
The beginning and end of your signal in Tapedesk are based on the channel strips of three hit-making heavies:
- S4000 — Aggressive tone and wide stereo image; a first choice for rock, pop, and metal for years
- N80 — English warmth and character with formidable depth and punch; a classic on drums and bass
- T88 — Characterized by a midrange presence known to sweeten acoustic guitars and vocals and propel forward in a mix
Then sweeten with tape
Based on a world-class 2" 24-track analog tape machine, Tapedesk’s tape emulation enhances your signal with seductive analog warmth, depth, and even-order harmonic distortion. As you increase the input level, Tapedesk accurately models analog tape saturation and limiting behavior. From lo-fi 7.5 inches-per-second to hi-fi 30 inches-per-second, Tapedesk lets you select the characteristics of three different Tape Speed models. You can even simulate the distortion and frequency anomalies introduced by improper Bias settings, as well as the Wow and Flutter of a machine sorely in need of maintenance. Another feature we really appreciate is Tapedesk’s meter, selectable between VU and peak-reading for precise input and output metering.
