Who Is the RODECaster Mixer Series For?
Whether you're a seasoned podcaster or just starting your channel, you can count on RODE’s RODECaster streaming mixers to elevate your productions. Known for their exceptional sound quality and user-friendly interfaces, the RODECaster Pro II and RODECaster Duo are sensible choices for anyone looking to produce professional-grade podcasts at home or on the go.
RODECaster Pro II vs. RODECaster Duo: Which Model Is Right for Me?
Both of RODE’s audio mixer interfaces — the flagship RODECaster Pro II and compact RODECaster Duo — are primed to give media professionals the quality and features to take podcasts and streaming events to the next level.
RODECaster Duo
The RODECaster Duo (RCD) is a compact production powerhouse aimed at music streamers, online interviewers, and two-party podcasters. This unit has everything you need to capture top-quality content with or without a laptop.
Two low-noise Revolution Preamps give you +76dB of gain to feed your favorite broadcast mics. Onboard APHEX audio processing provides studio-grade channel and mastering effects. Six programmable SMART pads with bank switching and LED customization let you fire off sound effects, layer music beds, or apply studio fades and vocal effects on the fly. Factor in broadcast-quality faders and encoders and multitrack audio capture via microSD card, and the RCD is one seriously capable compact mixer.
RODECaster Pro II
The RODECaster Pro II (RCP) gives you everything the RCD has and more: more mic preamps, more channels, more pads, more physical faders, and more headphone outs. It’s got the physical ins and outs to handle four-person panel discussions to combo band recordings without requiring a studio’s worth of external gear.

RODE Podcast Mixer FAQs:
Are you wondering if the RODECaster Pro II or Duo are right for your creative needs? Here are quick answers to common questions from customers like you:
What are RODECaster mixers used for?
Podcasters, content creators, and music makers all reach for RODE RODECaster mixers wherever high-quality, on-demand audio capture is needed — from inside the studio walls to the remotest locations on earth.
How many channels does the RODECaster Pro II have?
The RODECaster Pro II gives you a 9-channel mixer interface to set independent levels for up to four microphones, a Bluetooth audio device, three stereo USB audio feeds, and the onboard SMART pads.
Do RODECaster mixers have +48v phantom power?
They sure do! Phantom power can be applied independently to each XLR mic input, so it’s safe for your condensers, ribbons, lapels, and dynamic broadcast mics. Just remember to disengage phantom power when connecting microphones to avoid audio pops and potential damage.
Do I need a microSD card for my RODECaster?
If you intend to capture standalone audio, then yes — an optional microSDHC or microSDXC (sold separately) is required. RODE recommends A1-rated cards from SanDisk or Samsung with UHS-1 or Class 10 read/write speeds and 16GB–256GB of storage. When livestreaming and multitrack recording using the RODECaster as a USB audio interface, a microSD card is not required.
How do I connect my RODE Wireless GO II to my RODE Mixer?
All mics and accessories within RODE’s podcasting ecosystem are designed to integrate seamlessly with your RODECaster streaming mixer.
- Wireless GO II — If you’re running the latest RODECaster firmware, you can connect up to two Wireless GO II transmitters directly to your RCD or RCP via a native 2.4GHz connection. Select “RODE Wireless” as the mic type, pair your transmitter and mixer, and you’re all set.
- Other RODE Mics — The RODECaster supports one-touch convenience across several popular RODE broadcasting mics, including the PodMic, Procaster, Broadcaster, and NT1. With these microphones, setup is a snap. Select the appropriate input type from your “mic locker” menu, and the RODECaster automatically applies studio-magic EQ, ballparks a rough level, and activates phantom power as needed.
