Sequencer, Sampler, and Synth in One Portable Unit
Based on the much-loved workflow of the brand’s OP-Z, the Teenage Engineering OP-XY combines sequencing, sampling, and synthesis in a battery-powered standalone unit. Fueled by a formidable dual-CPU design, the OP-XY lets you build tracks on a 64-step grid, supported by eight sound engines. It boasts 16 tracks — eight instrument tracks and eight auxiliary tracks — for controlling hardware synths and modules. You also get a “Brain” transposition tool, which shifts patterns and melodies across keys in real time without interrupting your groove. Additionally, the Multi Out accommodates MIDI, CV/Gate, Sync, and Aux Audio for seamless integration with external gear, and the unit boasts Bluetooth MIDI, USB MIDI, and USB audio interface capabilities. The OP-XY features a performance gyroscope, enabling you to shape your sound by tilting and moving the unit, while Punch-in FX keep your live sets evolving. Moreover, you get comprehensive randomization and live automation features. Designed with low-profile mechanical keys, a pressure-sensitive pitch strip for expressive hands-on control, and a high-resolution display that delivers clear visual feedback, the speaker-equipped OP-XY is a go-anywhere musical tool with endless creative uses.

Fast, hands-on sequencing
Primed for lightning-fast, performance-ready sequencing, the OP-XY enables you to build tracks on a 64-step grid with minimal menu diving, which is exactly what you need to spark ideas quickly. Its 16 tracks comprise eight instrument tracks and eight auxiliary tracks for controlling external synths and modular gear, as well as adding effects. Sweetwater’s electronic musicians were immediately drawn to the OP-XY’s “Brain” transposition tool, which allows you to shift patterns and melodies across keys without breaking your groove. You also get Punch-in FX for adding rapid-fire live variations to your performances. The OP-XY gives you deep pattern control, including per-step components, pattern mutation, and per-step variations that bring rhythmic depth and added dimension to your patterns. You can also randomize note timing, velocity, and pitch, and use live automation to change filter parameters. Finally, the OP-XY boasts a 6-axis motion sensor, an accelerometer, and a gyroscope that lets you shape patterns, sequences, and effects by tilting and moving the unit.

Sound, connectivity, and tactile control
A jack of all trades and a master of them all, the Teenage Engineering OP-XY melds a sampler, synth, and sequencer into one performance-ready device. It features eight sound engines, including synth and drum options, giving you straightforward access to everything you need to sketch your musical ideas. The OP-XY also sports a Multi Out compatible with MIDI, CV/Gate, Sync, and Aux Audio, enabling seamless integration with external synths, modules, and effects. Driven by a dual-CPU architecture and elevated by a premium-caliber DAC, the OP-XY leverages a rebuilt engine based on the OP-Z’s workflow. Structurally, it's designed with low-profile mechanical keys, four encoders, a pressure-sensitive pitch strip, and a high-resolution grayscale display, making the OP-XY an incredibly expressive instrument that delivers clear visual feedback to boot. USB-C-equipped and housing a built-in speaker, the OP-XY matches the dimensions of the OP-1 Field and is light enough to take anywhere.
Teenage Engineering: serious gear, playful design
From its studio in Stockholm, Sweden, Teenage Engineering dreams up instruments, speakers, and innovative gear for musicians who’d rather twist knobs and follow their ears than dig through menus. It all started with the OP-1 Field, a portable synthesizer that debuted at NAMM in 2010 and won over musicians with its playful look and deep sound-shaping capabilities. That same thinking now runs through a catalog of synthesizers, samplers, drum machines, mixers, portable speakers, and more. Every product takes shape under the company’s own roof, and the Teenage Engineering spirit is alive in each instrument: serious engineering wrapped in approachable minimalism, inviting you to pick it up and start making music.
