Innovation doesn’t stop there, however, as Sweetwater’s gigging percussionists have found the Quick Release lug to be a lifesaver in a pinch, allowing you to easily swap natural buffalo skin heads by removing the tension rod without the need to remove the accompanying nut. Plus, the internal ring naturally centers the head for pristine placement with every swap.

Jesús Díaz: international man of music
Cuban-born percussionist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Jesús Díaz came to the US from Havana in 1980, settled in the Bay Area, and has since built a career as one of the world’s most in-demand studio and touring percussionists. Additionally, Jesús is a prolific arranger and educator, having led clinics at Berklee College of Music, Stanford Jazz Workshop, and Drummers Collective NY, and contributed to Warner Brothers publications as a member of Talking Drums. Jesús’s recording and performance credits read like a who’s who of legendary musicians, including Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Matthews Band, and many more.
