Who is the KNA DB-1 Portable Piezo Double Bass Pickup designed for?

The KNA DB-1 is perfect for double bass players who need to amplify their instrument without permanent modifications. It's ideal for live performances, studio recording, or practice sessions where you need more volume. Its simple, non-invasive design makes it suitable for musicians of all levels looking for a natural, acoustic sound from their upright bass.

How is the DB-1 pickup installed on a double bass?

The DB-1's wood-encased piezo sensor installs in the eye slot of your double bass bridge and is held securely with friction, with neatly finished shim discs included for a perfect fit. The 1/4-inch jack housing attaches nondestructively to the tailpiece using a screw assembly at the string eye. Once installed, simply connect it to your amplifier or preamp with a standard 1/4-inch cable.

What kind of sound quality does the KNA DB-1 provide?

The KNA DB-1 delivers a clear, natural, and articulate sound that faithfully reproduces the acoustic character of your double bass. Its passive piezo element, housed in a lightweight wooden casing, captures the instrument's vibrations directly from the bridge. This design ensures a warm, organic tone, making it excellent for jazz, classical, folk, and other genres.

Does the KNA DB-1 require batteries or external power?

No, the KNA DB-1 is a passive pickup, meaning it does not require any batteries or external power to operate. It generates its signal directly from the vibrations of your double bass bridge. You can simply plug it into any amplifier, mixer, or preamp with a standard 1/4-inch input and enjoy instant amplification.
