AEA’s Stylish, High-performance Snaqbox
The AEA Snaqbox is a 2-channel, 500 Series chassis with separate dual linear regulators per channel that ensure total power isolation between mounted units. With minimalist circuitry and Neutrik XLR connectors employed to maintain the highest fidelity sonics, the chassis is powered by an external switching power supply to isolate it from switching noise away. Snaqbox features a handy Link/Cascade switch that, when engaged, routes the audio output of Channel 1 to the input of Channel 2. The Link switch disconnects the XLR input of Channel 2, while maintaining Channel 1’s output connection (thus providing wet/dry outputs). Lastly, the AEA Snaqbox is available in two stylish options, with either clear or fluorescent orange acrylic side panels.

AEA: the gold standard in modern classic ribbon mics
After RCA shut down its microphone manufacturing division, studios that owned vintage RCA ribbon mics would have been in a bind for parts and service were it not for AEA, which had taken over servicing for these microphones. By 1998, AEA, under the direction of founder Wes Dooley, manufactured every part for the RCA 44, and the decision was made to release an updated version of the revered microphone. The result? The AEA R44C, a museum-grade reproduction of the 1938 RCA 44BX that delivers all the sonic goodness of the original and doubles as a reliable modern microphone that imparts characteristic ribbon silkiness to vocals and instruments that need a little finessing. While AEA’s 44 series now includes several different variants of the classic to suit your specific needs, NUVO Series mics take a fresh approach by focusing on modern application requirements. At Sweetwater, we’re huge fans. AEA mics and ancillary gear are regularly deployed in our studios — and the results speak for themselves.
