JBL VRX PA Speaker Series

The JBL VRX series offers a high-level live sound solution for fixed installations, rental companies, musicians, and DJs — anyone who demands maximum performance and convenient portability from PA speakers. The JBL VRX speakers leverage technology and design elements from the company’s top-selling VERTEC-series line arrays, but in a compact form factor that’s tailor-made for smaller venues. The JBL VRX series delivers everything you’ve come to expect from a JBL PA speaker: excellent power handling, flexible design, and, of course, stunning sound. If you want to build a high-quality line array for a small- to medium-sized facility, these JBL VRX speakers are a great way to go.

VRX Speakers Provide Excellent Coverage

At Sweetwater, we’re continuously impressed by JBL VRX speakers, thanks to their innovative design. These speakers come armed with JBL’s Constant Curvature Array, a revolutionary waveguide that employs multiple compression drivers on a continuous arc. This enables the VRX speakers to mimic the functionality of a single driver, even when you add more enclosures to your system. With JBL VRX loudspeakers, you get a controlled, coherent coverage pattern whether you use one JBL PA speaker or six!

JBL VRX Drivers

The low-frequency drivers employed by the JBL VRX series will exceed your expectations — especially when you consider the size and weight of these PA speakers. The JBL VRX drivers include ultra-lightweight neodymium magnets positioned inside dual voice coils — a hallmark of JBL’s patented Differential Drive woofer technology. The dual-voice coil design employed by JBL VRX speakers maximizes their power handling, thereby increasing their output. So, when you describe the VRX series, you might say that a JBL loudspeaker is a JBL loud speaker! Each VRX speaker also contains an integrated heat sink to ensure optimal heat dissipation and reliable operation.

VRX Powered Speakers

The JBL VRX series also includes powered models for added flexibility. Each powered PA speaker in the JBL VRX series comes loaded with a DrivePack DPC-2 amplifier module, which was developed in cooperation with Crown International. Dual-Bridged Technology links each output on your amplifier to a discrete voice coil in a JBL VRX speaker’s Differential Drive woofer, while Crown’s Balanced Current Amplification Class-I circuitry offers temperature-compensated modulation and highly effective feedback circuitry. You also get built-in digital signal processing and a super-efficient — and super-quiet — passive cooling system in the JBL VRX speakers.

JBL VRX series PA loudspeakers include premium birch plywood construction and a rugged DuraFlex coating, plus heavy-duty steel grilles, so they can really take a beating. They’re also a breeze to install, thanks to JBL’s exclusive integral rigging hardware. That said, we recommend that you contact your Sales Engineer at (800) 222-4700 if you’re going to fly these — or any — PA speakers. Safety first!
