Where are the VST plug-ins stored on Mac OS X?

On Mac OS X there are usually three different locations and folders that can contain VST plug-ins.

1) The plug-ins installed with Cubase and Nuendo
These plug-ins are installed inside the package of the application.
To find the plug-ins do this:
Open the folder “Applications” on your system disk
Search for the application where you want to look for the vstplugins
Open the context-menu of the application by [CTRL]+mouseclick, select “Show Package contents”
There, open the folder “contents”, then “vstplugins”.
