Using the V-synth in Multitimbral Mode

The V-Synth can be used with an external sequencer to play back multiple parts. Use the following steps to prepare the V-Synth to receive MIDI on multiple parts.

First we will turn on all the V-Synth parts that will be receiving incoming MIDI note information:

1. Press the MODE button.

2. Touch the SYSTEM icon on the display.

3. Touch PART MIDI on the display.

4. Touch ON/OFF to select “ON” for each part that will be receiving incoming MIDI note information.

5. Touch WRITE to save these settings.

6. Press the EXECUTE button to complete the writing process.

NOTE: To select Patches on Parts 2-16 you must send Bank Select and Program Change messages from an external sequencer or keyboard. V-Synth Bank Select numbers are listed on page 153 of the Owner’s Manual.

Next we will turn off the Remote Keyboard Switch. This will keep the V-Synth from “channelizing” incoming MIDI data and routing it to Part 1:

1. Press the MODE button.

2. Touch the SYSTEM icon on the display.

3. Touch MASTER on the display.

4. Touch CONTROLLER.

5. Touch KBD.

6. If the REMOTE KBD SW is “ON,” touch ON/OFF so it is “OFF.”

7. Touch WRITE to save this setting.

8. Press EXECUTE to complete the writing process.

9. Press EXIT two times to return to the Play screen.

If you are using the V-Synth with an external sequencer, you may also need to turn the Local Switch off. This will keep the V-Synth from double triggering when recording sequenced parts:

1. Press the MODE button.

2. Touch the SYSTEM icon on the display.

3. Touch MASTER on the display.

4. Touch CONTROLLER.

5. Touch KBD.

6. If the LOCAL SW is “ON,” touch ON/OFF so it is “OFF.”

7. Touch WRITE to save this setting.

8. Press EXECUTE to complete the writing process.

9. Press EXIT two times to return to the Play screen.
