When I upgraded to Windows XP, my MOTU 2408 or other MOTU PCI424 device sounds choppy, like I’m listening to it through a fan. What can I do?

First, you may want to try downloading Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) from http://www.microsoft.com/ and installing that. Then, uninstall and reinstall the MOTU drivers.  We recommend downloading the latest XP drivers from www.motu.com/downloads

Try our online PC optimization guide for Windows XP by typing in PC Optimization in the knowledge database. This will help you troubleshoot and disable devices and software that can conflict.

If you have a Soundblaster – brand audio card, try removing it. There are documented cases of the drivers conflicting.

Call Sweetwater Technical Support if these don’t help.
