The SPEED CAL light comes on or blinks constantly and the frame rate keeps switching. What’s happening?
1. Verify the clock reference in the session setup e.g., if you’re feeding the USD Black Burst, clock reference should = Vid Ref. If it is set to the wrong reference e.g., LTC, the USD cannot resolve.
Here are some important Session Setup settings to verify when trouble-shooting sync:
– Clock Reference
– Positional Reference
– Sync Mode
– Frame Rate
– Sample Rate
2. This can also happen if the USD mistakenly switches itself to PAL mode instead of NTSC.
Here are the steps to check and adjust frame rate.
– turn computer OFF
– press SET
– Use up/down until you see “VIDEO SYS”
– press SET
– screen will says either NTSC or PAL, use up/down to adjust
– press SET twice to return to main menu.
3. If you continue to have the same symptoms, try the factory reset.
– turn the USD off for at least 10 seconds.
– press and hold UP and DOWN while turning the power back on.
– keep holding up & down until you see FAC-CFG on the screen.
