How do I record a track on my BR-1180CD?
Lets start from the beginning and assume that this is the first time you are powering the device on.
First things first we need to create a new song that we can record into. Do this by pressing the [Utility] button and the move to the “Song” icon by using the cursor, then press enter. After pressing enter you be brought to the Song menu. Here we need to cursor to the “New” icon, it has the word “New” on it. Press enter and you will be brought to a new screen where you choose the type of project that this will be, by default it is set to “Lin”. That means that the audio will be recorded as 16-bit data, in a “Linear” fashion, this is the highest quality of the unit and will fine for this instruction, now cursor to the word “Go” and press [Enter].
Now we can start getting setup to record. First plug a microphone or your output device into input 1. Now press the input select button for input one, it is located directly beneath the input sensitivity knob for input one. We are now setup to get input from input one. Make sure the “Record Mode” is set to “Input” and then press the track select button directly underneath the track you would like to record to, the light should begin blinking. Speak into the microphone and you should be able to see signal on your display, it will be being displayed above “In” which is directly left of track “1” on the display.
We are now set to record and all you need to do is press the [Record] button and then the [Play] button. The BR1180 will now start recording. The blinking light under the track you setup to record will be solid RED to indicate that you are currently recording on that track. . To listen to what you recorded, rewind to the beginning of the song and press [Play].
