Problems using SCSI recorders with Toast in OS X.
This information applies to Toast Titanium 5.1.X and higher, with Mac OS 10.X
Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can take for problems with SCSI recorders in OS X.
(note: This article has references to directory paths on your hard drive that are in the following format /Directory/Sub-Directory/… Unless otherwise stated, these refer to directories at the root level of the hard drive)
1. Starting with Mac OS X 10.1.3, there is a fix for a flaw in the SCSI drivers, so you may want to update before continuing on to the next steps.
2. Note: Only advanced users may want to do this step. This requires that you have root access to the system.
Try deleting the Extensions.mkext file from /System/Library (this is NOT the Extensions folder, just a file that contains cached versions of the extensions)
3. Try reinstalling iTunes 2.0.1.
4. If you have a “”Not officially qualified-to-run-OS-X Macintosh”” and are using Unsupported Utility X, you must remove the patched IOSCSICDDrive.kext file from your /System/Library/Extensions folder. Basically what Unsupported UtilityX does is the same as El Gato’s SCSI helper, and the two conflict. As far as we know, the Unsupported Utility X author is in the process of writing a more compatible version.
5. If you’re using an Adaptec SCSI card, getting the newest Adaptec drivers helps. Remember to remove the older versions of the kexts. If you need help with this step, please contact Adaptec.
