Why are the names of the files on the ISO 9660 CD I just burned shortened?

This information applies to Toast 4.x Deluxe, Toast 5.x Titanium on Mac OS 8.6 and OS 9.X

If you put a disc in a Windows system that has been written using the Joliet file naming system, you will get up to 31 character names. If you put this same disc in a Macintosh you will only see the 8.3 naming convention (Example: 12345678.abc), this is a limitation of the MacOS and not Toast. If you want long file names on both a Mac and a PC (IBM Compatible) we recommend using the Custom Hybrid format. If you are only going to be using this disc in a Macintosh another option is to select Allow Macintosh Names in the Setting window for ISO Data within Toast (note: this disc may not work in a IBM Compatible computer).
