More On ASR-10 / Jaz Drive Compatablities
Several readers have responded to reader “ZZ’s” problems using a Jaz drive with his Ensoniq ASR-10 sampler (TTOTD 9/5/97). Joel K. suggests using another type of removable drive, “In addition to a fixed hard drive I use a 270 meg Syquest drive with my ASR-10 rack and it works fine.”William S. says, “Maybe I’m just lucky, but my Glyph-brand Jaz drive works fine with the ASR-10. In fact, I use it on a PC, a Mac, and the ASR, so it’s really been quite handy. (Garth Hjelte of Rubber Chicken software wrote an article that the Transoniq Hacker put up on the web describing how to get your zip to function with the ASR… maybe something similar is happening with the Jaz drives as well?)”Thanks guys! According to our Service Department, Ensoniq says Jaz is not compatible with the ASR. Glyph’s website says that the Jaz/ASR combination is still “under testing”.
