iPod is no longer able to play music if you format or partition its hard disk.
Use the iPod Software Updater application to restore iPod. For information on restoring iPod see Knowledgebase article “How to restore iPod for Macintosh” or “How to restore iPod for Windows”
Warning: Restoring iPod erases all data and songs on the hard disk. You should always back up your data.
iPod only works (as music player) when its hard disk is formatted using the Mac OS Extended (HFS Plus) format. You should not reformat the disk using Mac OS Standard (HFS) or UNIX File System (UFS) formats.
