How do I set up a static IP address for an Avid Artist Color?

Taken from Chapter 8 of the Artist Color User Guide:

Most Artist Color users will never have to set a static Internet Protocol (IP) address but in the rare cases that require it, Artist Color does allow for it.

Normally Artist Color uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to obtain its IP address, typically from a router. Artist Color reverts to link-local addressing to generate an IP address if a DHCP server is not found on the network, such as when an Artist Color is connected directly to a computer with an Ethernet cable. Both of these methods of obtaining IP addresses can be overridden by supplying a static IP address, which Artist Color uses in all cases when powered on.

To set a static IP address:

  1. While holding down the <PAGE> keys simultaneously, press and release the POWER switch. Continue to hold the  <PAGE> keys down until the display lights.
  2. Turn the left-most knob to set Use DHCP to No.
  3. Use the SHIFT keys to move to the next screen. Press either SHIFT key to cycle the cursor back to a previous field or screen to change a parameter to a different value. To change the value for the Subnet Mask or IP Address, place the cursor under the current value and turn the left-most knob.
  4. Press SHIFT key to scroll through the fields of the IP Address.
  5. Turn the left-most knob to set the second field of the IP address.
  6. Repeat the previous steps to set the remaining IP Address fields.
  7. After setting the last IP Address field, press the SHIFT keys to move the cursor to the first field of the Subnet Mask screen.
  8. Use the techniques described to set the Subnet Mask.
  9. Press the <PAGE> keys simultaneously to save this static IP address. Power the Artist Color off and on to use the new IP address. To cancel any changes made to the IP address at any time, power off the Artist Color before pressing the  <PAGE> keys simultaneously.
