Why does my Format and Slip in my Frontier Design Dakota or Montana card show an error (red) instead of good (green)? I’m trying to send an Adat signal into Optical A and B. One optical seems to be ok (green).
On the Dakota control panel’s Clock-Device Status window, check the pulldown menu next to Coax at the right. Choices are: Coax, CD-Rom, Opt A-D. If this is set to Opt A-D, then the format of the optical input in question is actually set to 2-channel TOSLINK (commonly referred to as optical S/PDIF) instead of 8-channel ADAT Optical. To remedy this, simply choose the Coax to be Coax or CD-Rom and your optical input will return to 8-channel ADAT Optical.
The Signal, Format, and Slip lights should turn green with a line in them (indicating there have been errors). Click the Clear Errors button and things should work and appear normally.
