I’ve followed the directions to upgrade the operating system of my Akai MPC2000 and it doesn’t upgrade the OS from a PC. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure you unzipped the file downloaded off the Akai website. If you have Windows ME or XP, there is built-in support for .zip files. Simply double-click on the file downloaded, and the 3 files should pop up in a new window. These are the files that need to be copied to the floppy. Simply right-click on each file (or draw a box around it), go to Send To and choose 3.5″ Floppy (A:).

If you are using another version of Windows, double-click on the downloaded file and see if Winzip or another similar program pops up. It will show the 3 files needed, and simply copy them to a floppy disk.

If you do not have Winzip installed on your computer, you can download it at www.winzip.com.
