Why do I get a feedback loop whenever I try to monitor what I am recording to tape.

IF you have the tape outputs of your Mackie connected to the inputs of your record deck and the outputs of your record deck sending back into the mixer you will get a feedback loop whenever you send your tape mix to the main mix. There is a fix for this:

You can connect the Alt 3/4 outputs on the back of your Mackie mixer to your record deck inputs and then all you need to do is mute the channels that you want to send to tape and this will send those signals to the Alt 3/4 outputs wherre they will be sent to whatever you have them connected to. You can connect the output of your record deck to the tape inputs on the console now and whenever you assign the Tape mix to your Main mix you will hear what is getting put on tape. If you are not sending anything to tape to be recorded simply leave the tracks un-muted and listen to the main mix. You can also choose to listen to the Alt 3/4 outputs in the assignment matrix, but DO NOT do this while you are monitoring the tape inputs in the forementioned setup. There are many ways you can configure your setup with this board, if you need any more help please contact technical support.
