Q. How many samples can I assign to a single MIDI note?

You can assign up to 32-samples to a single MIDI note.

Q. Why does a sample sound different when I place it into a preset?

The preset you are placing your sample into is probably using a filter that is altering the sound of the sample.

Q. Why do I lose volume when using different filters?

Filters do exactly that. They ‘filter’ out certain frequencies potentially reducing the over all volume.

Q. How can I get my EmaxII and EIIIx files into my EOS sampler/synth?

These files can be read but they must be loaded via SCSI. So these files need to reside on a hard drive, removable media drive (other than floppy), or a CD-ROM.

Q. How can I stop my sampler from going to Sound Sprint every time I press the ‘Disk’ button?

Go to ‘MASTER,’ ‘SETUP,’ ‘SCSI,’ and set ‘Disk Button goes to Last.’

Q. Can I partition my sampler’s hard drive so I can also use it to save computer files?

No, the sampler needs to have control of the entire drive with its own proprietary format.

Q. How do Folders, Banks, Presets & Samples work together?

When you format a hard drive a default folder is placed on the drive. Banks are stored in Folders. Presets and Samples are stored in Banks. Samples are placed in Presets.

Q. How do folders work?

They are equivalent to ‘folders’ on a Mac and ‘directories’ on a PC. Folders are just a method to organize your work. For instance, you could store all of your ‘string’ banks in one folder named Strings and all of your ‘brass’ banks in another folder, etc.

Q. How do I format a floppy disk or hard drive?

  1. Press the ‘Disk’ button and highlight the drive that you want to format.

A low level format attempts to map out any bad sectors on your hard drive.

Q. How do I rename a folder, bank, preset, or sample?

Go to DISK, choose the drive, browse Folder, Bank, etc. Press: Utils, Rename.

Q. How do I erase the current bank in RAM?

Go to ‘MASTER,’ ‘BANK,’ ‘ERASE

  • Note: This will erase your RAM bank not a sound bank on your hard drive.

Q. Why does my EOS product show my hard drive (or other SCSI device) on all SCSI numbers?

A hard drive will appear on all SCSI ID’s if there is a SCSI ID conflict. Make sure that all of your SCSI devices have a different SCSI ID.
