Electro-Voice Everse8 Quickstart Guide
In this guide, we will show you how to set up and connect the Electro-Voice Everse 8 and will provide some great tutorial videos along the way. Follow the instructions below to get started.
Setup and Connections
The Everse 8 can be used in many ways: as a floor monitor, kickback, or PA speaker. Please note that the battery is partially charged out of the box, so it is recommended to charge it fully before use.
- Turn on your Everse 8.
- Connect your sound sources and adjust the levels. Be sure that the volume is down when connecting your gear! This will negate the risk of loud pops, which can damage the speakers.
- Instruments: Any instrument can be connected with a 1/4-inch or an XLR cable to Channel 1 or 2.
- Microphones: While you can connect any microphone with an XLR or a 1/4-inch cable to Channel 1 or 2, it is highly recommended to connect microphones to Channel 1, especially if you use condenser microphones.
- Aux Sources: Any mobile device or MP3 player will be connected with a 3.5mm cable dedicated to Channel 3/4.
Phantom Power
IMPORTANT!
Remember to connect your microphone before turning on phantom power and to turn off phantom power before disconnecting your microphone.
If you are connecting a condenser microphone that requires phantom power (+48V), then you will need to connect the microphone to Channel 1 and turn on phantom power. To do so, press the Input 1 button, press the MAIN VOL knob, then use the knob to turn on phantom power.
Monitor placement
Depending on your application, you may need to change the Location setting. For example, if you want to use it as a PA speaker, then you will want to place them on speaker stands and have the Location set as TRIPOD.
However, if you’re using it as a floor or kickback monitor, then you will need to set it on its side on a smooth and even surface. For optimal sound, you will also need to ensure that it’s at the correct angle and has the appropriate Location setting! If it’s angled too low and the Location is set incorrectly, then the sound won’t project as it should.
To change the Location setting, press the MASTER VOL knob, scroll until you see Location, then choose between TRIPOD, KICKBACK, and MONITOR.
Everse 8 Bluetooth Setup
ATTENTION ANDROID USERS!
Make sure Location Services are enabled on your device beforehand. If the services are disabled, then the Everse 8 will not appear as an available device!
One great feature of the Electro-Voice Everse 8 is the ability to pair the speaker to a mobile device via Bluetooth. You’ll need the Everse app, which is compatible with iPadOS and Android.
- Go to the Google Play Store (Android) or the Apple Store (iPadOS) and download the EV QuickSmart Mobile app.
- Enable Bluetooth on your device.
- Power on the Everse 8 and hold the INPUT 3/4 button until you see a four-digit code on the display.
- Open the Bluetooth settings on your mobile device, locate and select the Everse 8, then enter the four-digit code given on the speaker’s display.
- Once paired, go to the QuickSmart Mobile app and select the devices you wish to link.
Wireless connections
You can even link them wirelessly if you have more than one Everse 8, you just need to pair one of them via Bluetooth then, with a touch of a button, sync the rest with no additional cables necessary!
- Pair one monitor via Bluetooth, as outlined above.
- Push the MAIN VOL knob, scroll to and select Bluetooth.
- In the Bluetooth menu, scroll down and choose Speaker Link.
- Follow steps 2–4 on the second monitor.
- You don’t have to pair the secondary monitor via Bluetooth.
- Once linked, you can set each speaker to either L, R, or L+R.
