“The device ‘No Capture Device’ could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and is not being used by another application or user” in Vegas.
After clicking through this warning three times you see the preview window. It says “please connect a device”. The error occurs if the capture drive or folder does not exist. Go into Video Capture (To get to Video Capture, go into the File menu and select Capture Video), and into Options–>Preferences. Then click on the Disk Management tab to specify a valid capture location. Click on Add Folder to navigate to a location on your hard drive to store the captured files, and make sure that entry on the list has a checkmark on it before clicking OK.
