My Aardvark DirectPro Q10 has noise on the inputs, but the outputs are clean. What can I do?

First, if you are using 96k sample rate, see our other article on this topic and try a lower sampling rate.

If the noise still comes in all inputs,

1. Unhook all your inputs, see if the noise persists. If it goes away, it could be a cable problem.

2. Make sure you do not have the gain turned up all the way. 75dB of gain can pull in various RF noise from the area, especially if it is not properly grounded.

3. Check to see if the noise comes through the headphones when no inputs our outputs are connected. Also, check to see if the noise is recorded in your software.

4. Check the grounding of the outlet you have the computer plugged into. Try hooking the computer directly into the wall outlet, and maybe try another outlet.

5. Turn off all excess electrical things in your studio- there could be a device creating excess RF interference, or a badly wired switch or cord which can add extra interference to the power supply.

6. Try another room, see if the problem persists. If possible, try the card in another computer.

7. Call tech support.
