Can I use a 16-track recorder with my 1642-VLZ PRO?
A: The 1642-VLZ PRO is ideally designed for 8 track recording. While there is not an easy way to have 16 individual outputs, you can have the mixer connected to all 16 track inputs on your recorders. The first 8 mic/line channels have balanced direct outputs. Connect these directly to the first 8 inputs on your recorder. The subgroups or tape outputs on the mixer are double bussed, meaning subgroup 1 goes to sub outs 1 and 5 simultaneously, and sub 2 goes to outputs 2 & 6…(you get the picture.) Connect these sub outs to the inputs 9-16 on your recorder. Arm only the track you want to record since the same signals are going to tracks 1 & 5, 2 & 6, 3 & 7, and 4 & 8 simultaneously. Patch the direct outs from the recorder into the 16 line inputs on the 1642-VLZ PRO when you are ready to mix down.
