The Real Deal

I have been researching 47s for a minute and own a couple other Bock offerings. Since my experience is limited with 47 mics I will talk less about comparisons and more about the awesomeness of this thing. First: It's built like a tank. I have tracked Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Amp (Ampeg b15n), and Kick with this and the results have been stellar. This mic definitely compliments my mic collection in a way that I've needed for a while. Super versatile and rich. I was concerned at first about the mic mount but it's really nice and seems very sturdy. If you are looking on spending money on one pro mic that excels in a lot of applications, this is a good option. To me it really does a few things at a top level that other mics I've owned try to do and you don't have to lug around a power supply. I'd give it a look. I'm looking forward to years of use out of this mic.

I had the chance to meet David at Winter Namm and had a nice chat with him. Purchased the iFET about 6 months ago to use in my home project studio. I find myself reaching it for it over and over again. My clients also love the look and sound this mic gets for them. Everything I have thrown at it has sounded great - vocals, acoustic, outside kick, upright bass.. Love this mic..

Bock Audio iFet

I initially bought this mic to use in front of my kick drum and for guitar amp recording. Since I have a couple of other LDC's, mainly for vocals, I thought the iFet would be nice to have as a backup vocal mic in addition to it's kick and amp duties. After having played around with this microphone for a bit I can see using this almost exclusively for vocals, at least with my voice. I like both V and i modes for voice recording, they each have their own interesting character. A mic like this is expensive, at least for a hobbyist like myself, but the Bock Audio iFet can be used in many applications in a small studio. You get two distinct microphones in one package. Don't forget to mute your channel before switching modes or you'll hear the loud sound of electrons rapidly changing state.
