Simply the best choice to work with the e901...Use both mics and you will listen the Bass Drum itself, not mic´s coloration!

Best Bass Drum Mic Around

Been searching for a good bass drum mic for a while. If you are are on YouTube enough, you are bound to find kick drum mic shootouts. Some mics sound good, but many lack the thump and presence I've been looking for. Then I encountered this mic. Out of the box, you wouldn't think it would have the punch and thump that it does. Without any EQ, it will split your chest. For a real "kicker" (no pun intended) stick a 901 inside your kick and have the 902 just inside the drum pointing at the beater? Your ribs just might actually explode. This mic would work very well for rock, funk and any other groove type application. Carter Beauford of DMB fame uses this combo. So, if it works for them, I'm sure it will work for you too!! Get this will not be disapointed.

good for all bass instruments

I really love this mic on my tuba, also i've used it for bass amps, kick drums, double bass, and other percussion instruments. the more I use it the more I love it

Good Stuff!

I had been looking at all kinds of mics to build a studio with. I narrowed my kick mics down to 3 and decided to go with this one even tho the other 2 where the industry standard. At the time the mic on here and the other site to buy gear off of only had 2 reviews each but all saying it was great. I went for it and was glad i did. It really does give you a great kick sound without EQ as long as you know where to place mics. It really can handle a ton of lows but still give you the punch you want out of your kick drum. If you are looking to get a mic for bass cabs or kick drums get this mic. DON'T HESITATE!

Superb in the hole...

Have used this mic on a few sessions with live kick drums recently, and when placed properly at depth in the port hole of a kick head, it works incredibly well at capturing a blend of attack and "whoomp". Haven't used it on bass cabs yet, but for kick, I'm sold. Regarding kick drums with no port hole, well, you really have to work on proper placement. Well built mic. Learn to work it, and it will work for you.
