This Powerful Vocal Processor Was
Made to Be Played

The AIRA VT-3 may look like a vocal effects processor, but it plays like an instrument. If you look around at the amazing vocal processors right here at Sweetwater, most of the devices you'll find are made to go from preset to preset only, with very limited real-time tweakability. Roland's AIRA division, on the other hand, built the VT-3 to be manipulated in real time. With easily accessible faders for Pitch, Formant, Mix Balance, and Reverb, you can dramatically alter your voice in time to the music. Three preset buttons let you store and seamlessly recall settings on the fly, and you can even toggle your effects on and off with a standard footswitch.

  • Hands-on sliders for let you manipulate Pitch, Formant, Mix Balance, and Reverb on the fly
  • Store and instantly recall three of your favorite settings with a set of easy-access buttons
  • Footswitchable bypass control gives you a hands-free way of toggling your effect

Flexible Connections for Live Use
and Studio Production

The raw power of the AIRA VT-3 Voice is too much for the live stage or the studio alone. That's why Roland's AIRA division built this amazing vocal processor to be as flexible as humanly possible. For starters, an XLR combo preamp input lets you connect any standard microphone, and there's even switchable phantom power for condenser microphones — as well as a powered 1/8" jack for clip-on mics. On the output side, you can run the VT-3's 1/4" outs as either a stereo pair or as a set of wet and dry mono feeds, giving you the opportunity to mix at the board if you like. USB connectivity takes the VT-3 into the studio in style. Not only can you record straight to your DAW with this processor, but loopback capability lets you send audio to your VT-3, process it, and record the results.

  • XLR combo input with phantom power plus powered 1/8" input accommodates virtually any microphone
  • Dual 1/4" outputs can run either as a stereo pair or as two mono outputs, one wet and one dry
  • USB connection lets you send audio straight to your DAW or in a send/return loop as an effects processor

The VT-1 reincarnated!

I got this unit for easy gender bending and to add harmonies to tracked vocals. It has zero latency, a great gate and really precise pitch and formenant control. I have multiple TC Helicon products and for what I need, the vt-3 is just plain easier to use! (Also, as long as your voice is steady, artifact free!) The other features on this unit, robot, voice synth, vocoder are OK but I'm not a DJ so don't really have an opinion on usefulness or quality. The onboard reverb is very good and the mix feature allows for saturation levels from just a touch to full effect. Don't forget to turn the switch in back to stereo if you want stereo out! Over all, really, really happy with the VT-3 and ecstatic that they managed to put it out at a friendly competitive price point! (The VT-1 goes for 500 used!)

Best results with a good Mic

The VT3 has a lot of sounds and uses. The killer Robot and Vocoder modes are classic techno. The auto pitch can be used by vocal trainers to teach chromatic scales and correct sliding into notes. The radio and announcer patches do a nice job for background vocals, and the scatter function works great with human beatbox applications. I love it! Note: The better the Mic, the better the results! I use a Shure 58.

Sweetwater Advice

Brad Jahn

I've traditionally shied away from vocal effects in live gigs since most modules or software lack "on-a-whim" capabilities. But the VT3 gives me the ability to do something right NOW, without having to plan it meticulously in advance. It allows me to do something as simple as having quick control over reverb adjustment, all the way to the bizarre and other-dimensional.

Kenny Bergle

I've had the VT1 and was just hoping that Roland went to another planet for the VT3 (since they rocketed right past the VT2) - and indeed they did! I just got the VT2 and wow! I do crazy spoken word improvisation and the VT3 is killer for transforming my verbiage into something from another world (where it might actually make some sense!). Really great, but who, besides me, really wants to sound like a psychotropic robot from Jupiter? If you do, first, bless you (contact me for a good shrink, if appropriate), and secondly, get a VT3!!!!
