This Digital Mixer Does It All!

Huge bang for the buck! The 24-channel StudioLive 24.4.2 blurs the line between analog and digital, while packing a staggering amount of functionality into an easy-to-use digital mixing platform. Take this potent all-in-one machine to the gig and use its built-in effects and the PreSonus-exclusive "Fat Channel" to manage your sound. QMix software lets you wirelessly control your aux mixes from your iPhone or iPod Touch! Want to record the show? It couldn't be easier! Just plug the StudioLive 24.4.2 in to any FireWire-equipped computer, and you're ready to go. The StudioLive 24.4.2 even simplifies the recording process, thanks to its included Capture software for dependable live sound recording and included Studio One Artist DAW software for polishing and producing your tracks after you've recorded them!

There's a lot more you'll want to know about the StudioLive 24.4.2, though. If you've heard the story on its little brother; the 16-channel StudioLive 16.4.2. - you know that PreSonus designed the StudioLive series to redefine your live mixing experience. In just one package, they managed to put everything a serious live sound engineer just has to have - and that includes first-class effects and processing. You can get your channel settings just the way you like them and instantly recall your settings from show to show. Have to feed in an instrument you don't normally run through your board? No problem. StudioLive 24.4.2 also features built-in presets for a wide range of sources, so you have awesome "launching off" points. If you nail a sound on one channel and want to bring those settings to another channel, it's as easy as copying and pasting - a definite time-saver. Also good to know, if someone accidentally cuts the power while you're tweaking a mix, the StudioLive 24.4.2 has an AutoStore feature that will call back your last settings right when you turn it back on.

PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 24-channel Digital Mixer/FireWire Interface at a Glance:
  • Fat Channel gets you a great sound fast
  • iPad Wireless Remote Control is convenient both on-stage and in the studio
  • Pristine preamps for stellar recordings
  • Universal Control v1.6 update gives you "Smaart" tools to fight feedback, and more
Fat Channel gets you a great sound fast

One way the StudioLive 24.4.2 ups the ante over its little brother is in its "Fat Channel" section - this 24-channel StudioLive provides a 4-band, fully parametric EQ plus a studio-worthy gate with Key Filter and Key Listen. The best part about all of this, though, is that you don't have to dive into mile-long menus to take advantage of all the processing. The PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 has clearly labeled knobs plus a nice multifunction 16-ladder LED display and a separate pan display for getting clear visual feedback whenever you want it.

iPad Wireless Remote Control is convenient both on-stage and in the studio

PreSonus StudioLive mixers feature QMix, which lets you control your mixer's aux sends from up to ten Apple iPhones or iPod Touches! You can even let the performers create their own custom monitor mixes from individual iPhones. With the "Wheel of Me," you can choose multiple "Me" channels and tweak their levels simultaneously. All you need is a Mac or PC running PreSonus Virtual StudioLive software.

Pristine preamps for stellar recordings

We saved talking about the preamplifiers until last for one big reason: these XMAX preamps sound like they belong in the studio. And that's a fitting quality for the hybrid "StudioLive." With 24 high-headroom preamps at your disposal, you'll be able to run big shows while having channels to spare. Keep in mind too that with 24 great-sounding channels to feed the PA system, you can get a mic on just about everything up onstage - including a stereo room feed - that you can also record at the exact same time via FireWire. The net result is that you'll practically have a sweet-sounding, ready-to-sell live CD right from the get go. Like we said, though, the StudioLive 24.4.2 comes with Studio One Artist DAW software, so you can perfect the tracks and add in virtual instrument layers - you can even use the same StudioLive to record a studio album from scratch in your basement.

Universal Control v1.6 update gives you "Smaart" tools to fight feedback, and more

Universal Control v1.6 is a big update for the StudioLive series, adding the Rational Acoustics Smaart realtime analysis tools. Smaart displays are integrated into the Virtual StudioLive software environment, giving you visual indicators when feedback is imminent. It makes it easy to adjust the appropriate band of the graphic EQ to eliminate feedback. Universal Control v1.6 also lets you control talkback on/off and signal routing with Virtual StudioLive, and also adds support for the StudioLive Remote 1.3 app update.

You can't beat the all-in-one nature of the StudioLive 24.4.2 from PreSonus. It really is like having a sweet board, a rack of expensive effects, a complete 24-channel recording system, and a serious studio software package - all in one, and all for an exceptionally reasonable value.

Sweetwater and PreSonus go way back, and that makes a lot of sense. Like Sweetwater, PreSonus is largely staffed by active musicians, songwriters, live sound techs, and engineers, and like Sweetwater, their culture shows up in everything they do. Early on, PreSonus broke ground by offering super-affordable audio interfaces that brought quality recording to home studio engineers everywhere. In the following years, we've been with them as they introduced a powerful, artist-friendly DAW, groundbreaking digital mixers, and more - all products we at Sweetwater use ourselves. One thing that's never changed, even as PreSonus has branched out into new territory, is that they've always done everything possible to provide you with the best value, and we're proud to stand by their products.
