Stereo Tap Tremolo and More

The ehx Pulsar is back and better than ever, in the electro-harmonix Super Pulsar stereo tap tremolo pedal! With a true stereo signal path, adjustable modulation waveforms, and even nine rhythmic patterns, this does-it-all pedal is a dream come true for the tremolo fanatics at Sweetwater. You've even got creative dynamic control over the effect when you dial in envelope follower modulation to various parameters. From subtle warbling tremolo to choppy gated effects, the ehx Super Pulsar is an amazingly rewarding tremolo pedal to add to your guitar or keyboard rig.

Electro-harmonix Super Pulsar Stereo Tap Tremolo Pedal at a Glance:
  • Wide range of tremolo shapes and rhythmic effects
  • Creative control via expression pedal or CV
  • Volume boost helps you maintain your optimum signal level
Wide range of tremolo shapes and rhythmic effects

Plug your guitar into the ehx Super Pulsar and choose from sine, triangle, and pulse wave shapes to create your ideal tremolo effect. Use identical settings on the left and right channels for classic tremolo effects, or adjust the phase to create stereo motion. You've even got nine rhythmic patterns to play with, and you can even tweak these to create your own patterns and save them for recall later on.

Creative control via expression pedal or CV

Connect a standard expression pedal or CV source to the ehx Super Pulsar, and you've got creative control over a variety of parameters. Modulartion rate, depth, shape, phase, and volume can all be controlled from an external source. Whether you're playing guitar or keyboards, this extra level of control can add an incredible amount of sonic movement and excitement to your performance.

Volume boost helps you maintain your optimum signal level

If you've played as many tremolo pedals as we have at Sweetwater, you know that sometimes your guitar's volume can dip a bit with certain tremolo effects. The ehx Super Pulsar packs a volume boost for that very reason - once you dial in your ideal tremolo sound, adjust the volume boost to maintain your signal level. When the depth control is set to minimum, you can effectively add a 12dB boost with the volume control.

Electro-harmonix Super Pulsar Stereo Tap Tremolo Pedal Features:
  • Analog tremolo pedal with stereo, mono, stereo to mono, and mono to stereo operation
  • Fine-tune the tremolo effect with variable sine, triangle, and pulse wave shapes
  • Nine rhythmic patterns can you can change and save for future recall
  • Connect an expression pedal or CV source for real-time control over effects parameters
  • True Bypass design with mechanical relays maintains your tone and switches silently
  • Adjust the phase to create panning stereo effects
  • Save and recall up to eight of your own custom presets
The ehx Super Pulsar is the tremolo pedal that keeps on giving!

Reviews

Super pedal
It was a long time waiting but i fonally got my new super pulsar pedal, i used to have the first version of this one and this time the pedal came with some little differences but make the pedal even better it was.

The build quality is solid — the metal chassis feels durable, and the new knurled knobs are a nice upgrade over the usual smooth ones, providing better grip and precision. The input jacks feel sturdy and stable without the typical plastic casing.

To Infinity and Beyond
I love tremolo but this takes it into new worlds.
First, the controls are grouped in a way that's easy to deal with on the fly, or on a dark stage. They are self explanatory and give the expected results.
There are eight possible presets. Just hold down the BYPASS switch until the light blinks then select a preset position with the center switch and push BYPASS again to SAVE. That's the most complicated thing about this pedal.
As for the features, the mix of patterns, envelopes, and wave types makes this the most complete tremolo tool I have ever seen. It is perfect for creating rhythm patterns and effects. I am particularly fond of the RATE and DEPTH envelope controls. Those two controls are very small, but even with my huge fingers I can work them without difficulty.
I have several other tremolo pedals, including the Keeley Dynatrem which has envelope controls and is much more pedal board friendly. The Dynatrem also has rate and depth envelope control, but lacks presets and expression pedal control. I'm also a big fan of Line 6 products, but so far have not found a tremolo in any of the Helix or HX products that has envelope control for rate or depth.
Final thoughts: It has stereo in and outs, expression pedal control (for Rate, Depth, Shape, Phase, or Volume), TAP in, TAP divide, wave invert, rate multiplier, and expression pedal input, a separate tap switch input (as well as TAP on the pedal) and lots of flashing lights to let you know what's going on. The Super Pulsar is huge but worth making room for.
Music background: Too many years of playing to not be better at it.
Super pulsar... is super
There IS a learning curve.. but not bad. There's so much you can do for effects, and effects upon effects with this machine alone. There won't be any boredom with it because it seems endless in it's capacity to alter and enhance other effects as well as just a clean amp.
Music background: hobby so far
The Tip of the Iceburg
I've had mine for 2 months and only skimmed the surface of it's features. What impresses me most however, is simply the overall tone of the pedal. I was expecting lots of control but the oozing of crystal-clear, botique tone is a pleasant surprise. Without a doubt the best Tremolo pedal I've ever tried. I only wish they would've included, a paper manual. You can get the manual from the EHX site, and I'm all for saving trees, but this thing has so many options it's the one time I'd like a hard copy to sit and read through.
Music background: Professional worship leader & gigging musician.
