Analog Turntable Technology at its Best!

The Pioneer Pro DJ PLX-1000 direct-drive turntable offers the kind of performance that has DJs retiring their classic rigs. Its high-torque platter gets up to speed and stable in under a third of a second, making hot starts and scratches as precise as any turntable we've seen at Sweetwater. Three tempo ranges and a reset button makes beat matching incredibly flexible. What's more, few Hi-Fi turntables can compete with the sound of the PLX-1000, which offers magnificent clarity and next to no noise. Pioneer even eliminated sound of the PLX-1000's Start/Stop button.

Pioneer Pro DJ PLX-1000 Direct-drive Turntable Features:
  • High-torque direct-drive turntable engineered to meet the demands of today's top DJs and clubs
  • User-friendly layout makes seasoned professionals feel right at home with this turntable
  • Quartz lock servo direct-drive motor provides stable rotation in just .3 seconds at 33-1/3 rpm
  • Superior electronics get the best possible sound quality from your vinyl
  • Start/Stop button noise almost completely eliminated for smoother operation
  • Die-cast aluminum platter provides an absolutely stable feel under your fingertips
  • Cast high-mass zinc body on 8mm resin base with 9mm damping surface minimizes vibration
  • Rubber tubing inside the S-shaped tone arm dramatically decreases howling
  • Ultra-stable RCA and power connections recessed so that cables don't stick out beyond the footprint
  • Tempo control with 3 selectable ranges (+/-8/16/50%) and reset button provides extra precision

Amazing for home hifi use
I don't use this to DJ, but I feel like one bad mother using this on my high end system. It was time to step up my set up with a better table and after some hands on use with my buddy's modern technics 1200, I was hooked. But, the price wasn't convincing enough. After long research and reading, this seemed close. After a couple weeks and some A/B comparisons… the PLX-1000 wasn't close. In fact, it exceeded the 1200 on my system. Using with a AT-VM750SH cartridge, feels like they were made to be.

Pros:
Built like a tank, dampened to perfection.
Fast start (don't blink, you'll miss it).
Ease of use
Adjustable VTA
Smooth tonearm
Great tracking
Handles wide range of cartridges
Still room for the wife's safety raiser
Looks as good as it feels (confidence in quality)
Great slam, great detail, spacious soundstage (3D)
W&F is deadly accurate
Price for performance is OUTSTANDING

Cons:
No hinges on dust cover (get a shelf to put it on)
Yeah, that's it.
Music background: Audiophile
Exelente
Como niño con juguete nuevo.
Deal of the decade

I am a home audio enthusiast, not a DJ. I sold my VPI Scout and bought this much less expensive turntable so I could have interchangeable head shells. It did not disappoint. It's quiet, rock steady, and sounds great with the AT VM740ML cartridge I have on it. If you took the tempo slider off and slapped a Thorens or Dual name tag on it you could sell it for $

One of the best of the best of the best
I'm djing for over 15 years. Worked with many legendary turntables as Technics, Westax, Stanton
Those are the most closest feelings to work with Technics 1210s
Great quality, heavy af, reliable, no waiving and delay during pitch controlling
About as good as the 1200.
I've been a Dj for 30+ years using Technics 1200s and the PLX-1000 is about as good as the 1200. Sorry about it, but it is. Torque, stop/stop buttons, pitch control, lights, tonearm and adjustment features all perfect. I can't tell any difference in feel to the 1200. It looks beautiful. And it actually feels heavier and more 'solid' than a 1200. The only thing I cannot speak of obviously is reliability long-term. Ask me in ten years. The only odd thing is the +/- 50% or 16% pitch option. I'd never use or need that, maybe turntablists do. It has a +/- 8% like the 1200 and I stick with that. The 33/45 buttons don't feel as solid as the 1200, but are still just fine as they are. I needed a third deck... would have bought an old MK2/3/5 1200 but you don't know what you'll get as it's used, tonearms can be miscalibrated, other issues, shipping from strangers, etc. I wanted a 'new from the factory' option and the new Technics 1200 models look nice but are way more expensive than the PLX. Long story short the PLX-1000 is best deal for the money for a new, professional 1200-equivalent in the DJ world. As for the little brother PLX-500, I haven't tried that and it's probably fine for home listening but for DJing I'd go with the 1000.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?
Tyler Davis
I started my DJ career using the classic Technics1200 turntables, and as I progressed so did my gear. I'm a scratch DJ, and for years, I've gone from studio to studio, so I needed a dependable turntable that is built to last. Pioneer's PLX1000 delivers the touch I need and the toughness my DJ career demands. The motor is fast and responsive and totally reliable. Whether I'm on the road or in the studio, I'll be cutting it up with my PLX1000.
