Excellent Pres, USB, and Lexicon Effects

Whether you need a personal mixer onstage or an easy way to record at home, the Soundcraft Notepad-12FX is a great choice. This compact 12-channel mixer includes four of Soundcraft's excellent preamps and additional inputs for keyboards and other stereo gear. There's a 4-channel USB audio interface onboard, which is great for live recording, music production, DJing, and any other application that requires multichannel audio streaming. There are also three digital effects from Lexicon onboard the Notepad-12FX, and they come complete with tap tempo and adjustable parameters.

Equipped with four versatile Soundcraft preamps

Sweetwater live-sound engineers have long counted on Soundcraft to deliver clear sound onstage, and a lot of that has to do with their mic pres. While there's +48-volt phantom power onboard for your condenser mics, the high-headroom preamps included on your Notepad-12FX deliver plenty of gain for even the most sluggish of dynamic microphones, with enough gain leftover to handle sudden level spikes that can sneak up on you onstage or in the studio. Instrument-level inputs on channel 1 and channel 3, along with stereo inputs on four additional channels, let you plug in additional mics, guitars, keyboards, or other instruments, so there are enough inputs for the whole band.

Sweeten your sound with Lexicon digital effects

In addition to handy 3-band EQs and 100Hz highpass filters on the preamp-equipped channels, the Notepad-12FX offers you a selection of genuine Lexicon effects you can use to enhance your sound. These effects include a dimensional delay, a rich chorus, and a spacious reverb. Each effect features an adjustable parameter (length for the delay and reverb, intensity for the chorus) that you can tweak with just the twist of a knob, while tap tempo lets you keep your effects locked to the beat.

USB delivers recording and performance possibilities

For a lightweight portable mixer, the Notepad-12FX certainly doesn't fall short where I/O is concerned. You get XLR combo jacks, 1/4" inputs, and RCA line inputs. On the output side, there's a pair of XLR outputs that feed the mains (perfect for PA systems and studio monitors), a 1/4" aux output, and a switchable main/aux headphone jack. USB turns the Notepad-12FX into even more of a mini-workhorse mixer, by providing a direct connection to your computer. This allows it to act as a 4-in/4-out USB audio interface, making it easy to record into your DAW. It also lets you stream audio from your computer, which you can use to play backing tracks or to inject your favorite virtual instruments right into the PA.

Reviews

Great sound in a small package.
I recognized that Soundcraft "sound" right away. Perfect for casual listening in my man cave. This is going to be a lame review because I'm not using it for recording or live sound purposes. I've only had it a few weeks so I can't speak as to its road-worthiness. But it seems solid, well made. Time will tell I guess. It's got some heft to it. It's made of metal. It has all the hallmarks of a nice piece of gear. Again with the sound: meaty, authoritative, sweet. I couldn't ask for a better casual listening device. Funny comment: when I first plugged it in I noticed no on/off switch. If it's plugged in it's on. Not even a power LED. I thought maybe it was defective right out of the box. Just seems odd. I would have gladly paid an extra dollar or two for a power light lol

Great little Mixer
I got the Soundcraft 12FX to use as a backup when my Evolve 30M would not connect to the mixer app on my phone. After a couple times using it I found that 1. I liked having a physical mixer more than using the app and 2. I prefer the sound of my guitar and vocals running through this mixer. It definitely seems warmer in the highs and thicker/more punchy through the midrange compared to plugging directly into the EV xlr inputs on the pa. I've also used a few other mixers with the same pa and in my opinion the Soundcraft had the best overall tone.

Another benefit is 2 of the inputs have buttons to switch to instrument level so you can plug your acoustic guitar 1/4in cable in directly. Great feature and it's awesome this tiny device has it on 2 channels. It was a life saver on one gig when I was getting noise from my preamp pedal. I bypassed the preamp, plugged in directly and played the show with no problem.

I have not used the usb connection so can't comment on that. And I only use the reverb very sparingly, just a touch so the vocals and instruments aren't completely dry. Overall I find it to be a great compact mixer. Perfect for solo or duo acoustic gigs. Throw it in a backpack along with some mics and cables, plug it into your favorite portable column pa and you have a nice easy to use compact rig for bar/patio/party gigs.

Absolutely Rocks!
Wow, I was going to get a second Radial Keylargo as I ran out of room on the M24, and happened across the Notepad 12. If Keylargo has any competition, this is surely it! It is a very solid and we'll built kit, all the jacks are TRS and above that it's not adding any noticable noise as sub mixers have done in the past. I couldn't be happier! unless they made one with out USB and left out the built in FX. Only one negative note is that Phantom Power is always on and I don't know if that could adversely effect any sensitive electronics that are connected to the first 4 inputs...

Fast setup
Amazed at the quality that this units puts out.
Compact and powerful
I find this mixer very well built. Easy to setup. Can not wait to try the usb feature.
