Physical drawbars give you real organ feel

Nord's Electro 5D 73 builds on the success of four generations of Electro Series keyboards. Nord has been listening to fiercely loyal Electro players, and the number one request was for real drawbars, a favorite feature among Sweetwater keyboard players. Done. Having ready access to physical drawbars gives you the ability to tweak your sound in real time. The Electro 5D 73 now features updated tone wheel and rotary speaker simulations from the C2D. And a mount for the optional Half-Moon Switch gives you an authentic-feeling control for the rotary speaker settings.

Powerful features give you the tools you need

Nord loaded the Electro 5D 73 with a load of features that make gigging and recording easier than ever. A large OLED display lets you instantly see your settings, effects, and more. You can also set up splits and layers into organ/piano, piano/synth, or synth/organ designations that let you have both instruments available on different parts of the keyboard. A dedicated Sample Synth section, with 256MB of memory, offers a large selection of samples and controls for attack, decay, and dynamics. With the Nord Electro 5D 73, you get the warmth of analog with the road-tested reliability of a fifth-gen digital machine.

Built tough for serious professional use

Touring may be rough on musicians, but it's the gear that really gets thrashed. The Nord Electro 5D 73 is built to take whatever your tour schedule can dish out, and then some. Nord builds its instruments for serious professional use. The 5D's 73-key size strikes a perfect balance, offering you two-handed playability in a light weight, maneuverable chassis.

GREAT Keyboard

This keyboard has all the sounds! I've spent a lot of money and time over the years trying to get authentic organs, pianos, and EP's. This one has it all! Programming splits and layers couldn't be easier. It's a little pricey but it is worth every penny. Stop fretting over sounds that are close but just not there. This board has me smiling ear to ear! Thanks Sweetwater and thank you Roq!

Lives up to the hype

I've always wanted a Nord. Initially bought the 4 HP, but returned it for this model. With the added memory, split/layer functions, dedicated reverb, drawbars, and SW keybed, I am much happier! Plus the screen is so convenient. I am having a lot of fun programming my own sounds. This, unlike other keyboards, doesn't feel like a computer. It has a soul. Superb Rhodes, Wurli, piano and organ sounds. Rhodes cuts great in a live mix. I've found the grand pianos to be more authentic in headphones. I will say I got a great deal on mine. The biggest question is how much you are willing to spend. I think at retail they are slightly overpriced, but once you own one you will likely never want to give it up.

Best yet Electro

Takes a little getting used to but the power is there with a little tweaking. New menu display is very nice and I don't know if it's my imagination but this version sounds a little fatter than the 4D I have. Layering is great and well as splitting. With 73 keys you can have a real 2 manual organ at your finger tips. Great action, just heavy enough that piano and Rhodes feel good and light enough to feel like a B3 clone.

Not totally impressed... yet

Well, did not impress me out of the box. Too many unusable sounds! Plus when using the drawbars there is a pronounced 'stepping effect' that make them almost unusable during live performance! ;-(
