Are You Serious About Protecting Your Hearing?

NOTE: Due to the personal nature of earplugs, they are not returnable.

With the Etymotic Research Music Pro electronic earplugs, you'll experience natural-sounding hearing protection that can also help you hear low-level sounds. They're perfect for music teachers, performers, FOH crews, and even audience members. The Music Pro earplugs let you select between 9dB and 15dB of active attenuation, but it doesn't kick in until sound levels begin approaching uncomfortable levels. Until that point you'll hear everything clearly and intelligibly, which means you'll barely know you're wearing earplugs when you choose the Music Pro electronic earplugs.

Etymotic Research Music Pro Electronic Earplugs at a Glance:
  • Smart protection for your hearing, with optional sound enhancement
  • Zinc-air batteries give you long-lasting active attenuation
  • Comprehensive accessory set helps you get the best performance
Smart protection for your hearing, with optional sound enhancement

Because the Etymotic Research Music Pro electronic earplugs don't start attenuating sound until levels reach 70-75dB, you can hold conversations with ease without removing your earplugs. In fact, in the 9dB setting, sounds below the threshold are boosted by 6dB, further enhancing clarity. And because the active attenuation is a gradual transition, you won't hear disconcerting level flutters as it turns on and off. However, sharp, transient noise spikes are attenuated immediately. The overall experience is more like turning the volume down on the world, as opposed to wearing muffling earplugs.

Zinc-air batteries give you long-lasting active attenuation

The active attenuation in the Music Pro electronic earplugs comes courtesy of zinc-air batteries. These little batteries provide about 300 hours of life, which gives you about 2-3 weeks of everyday use. And because zinc-air batteries are not damaging to the environment, you don't have to worry about separately recycling these batteries when you need to replace them.

Comprehensive accessory set helps you get the best performance

You get everything with the Music Pro earplugs for dependable, professional use. In all, you'll get extra replacement eartips, a flexible and handy neck cord, replacement filters and a tool for replacing them, a cleaning tool, a test set of batteries (#10 zinc air), and a protective case. If your profession puts you in noisy environments on a regular basis, the Music Pro electronic earplugs are the professional way to protect your hearing.

Etymotic Research Music Pro Electronic Earplugs Features:
  • Electronic earplugs with selectable 9dB or 15dB of attenuation

A Worthwhile Investment in Hearing Protection

Just made an investment in a pair of these Etymotic Research Music Pro electronic earplugs. Really cool technology. I've always had trouble wearing earplugs at gigs because I couldn't hear anyone talk between songs, or at rehearsal for the same reason. Constantly pulling them out was a pain, and everyone trying to yell for me to hear made me feel like a problem child. These allow normal sound to pass until SPL reaches levels that can harm your hearing, then the circuitry kicks in and adds a -15 db reduction. There's also a mode where it will enhance very quite sound levels and then provide a -9 db reduction when needed. I've tried passive plugs, including some older ERs with -15 db filters. They work fine until the need comes up to hear normal sound levels, as described above. First test: rehearsal and songwriting session with full drum kit and Mesa half-stack, full bass rig...in a living room. Not painfully loud, but enough to need protection. It was a really good test because there was a lot of discussion between bursts of playing. I never once had trouble carrying on normal conversation and the music was attenuated to about the same volume as the conversation. Never heard any abrupt attenuation at all. Pretty seamless transition actually. The only negative is that they cut the lows I heard quite a bit, but my old ER-15 passive filters did the same. However, it actually made the bass more prominent in the perceived mix. I think I'll like these quite a lot. I have a significant hearing loss (both hereditary and self-inflicted), and I consider protecting what I have left to be a worthy investment. These will allow me to be protected in cases where I might remove my plugs in frustration otherwise.

Etymotic Research Music Pro 9-15 Electronic Earplugs

They work great, especially for listening to live music. They also work well for playing music, however they do lower the bas bass frequencies more than the high end frequencies. So, as a bass player, it makes me want to turn up the bass to hear it. But they are light years ahead of every other method of hearing protection I have tried. Overall, if the bass came through a little bit more, they would be perfect.
