And to get you started creating right out of the box, the MiniFuse 2 includes a software package featuring some of Arturia’s most popular plug-ins!

Minifuse 2

I love the sound through this interface. The rear USB is a good feature. Software bundle, awesome.

If you have a Mac - buy one. Fantastic. Unbelievably better than the output junk built in to a Mac. Very importantly, line level slashes hum.

In my use case, I wanted an interface only for OUTPUT from a Mac.

This thing is perfect. You simply take it out of the box and connect it with a USBC-USBC cable, like any modern peripheral.

It is completely plug and play, do nothing. Just select MiniFuse2 as the audio output on the Mac.

(It does come with a lot of utility software and free audio software, but, there is no need whatsoever to install that if you don't want to - it's a plug and play device.)

If you have previously just used the lame-*** headphone jack on your mac, to connect to your amp/speakers ... There are two overwhelming advantages to buying oe of these:

(1) The output from the mac (headphone jack) is at a pathetically low level, "consumer" level. In contrast if you plug in an interface, the dac inside the arturia results in a correct line-level level (like from any recording studio gear). The overwhelming advantage here is that your amp/speakers will now WORK PROPERLY, you don't have to turn up the volume on those so much to get a given volume - and that means LESS HUM. This is particularly important in a desktop-type situation because you likely have a pile of monitors, amps, pcs, etc all sitting on top of each other, and that means hum. Once you are finally dealing with a proper line-level, it is a HUGE advantage.

(2) the audio quality of the dac in a standalone interface is incredibly better than the cheap chip in a mac, wit any reasonable speakers/amp, you will instantly hear the difference. If you use any speakers at all worth more than, say, a couple hundred bucks, it would be nuts bothering with external speakers and not having a stand-alone interface

Other points, yes, it is powered from the USBC-USBC cable, you don't need a power adaptor.

There's a very convenient headphone socket on the front. (Really that alone makes it worthwhile, otherwise it's a total pita to change from your amp/speaker to headphones, when working with your mac studio.)

The output on the back of the arturia (like all interfaces) is simply two 1/4" mono plugs (ie, the same plugs as on an electric guitar cable), just as on most studio gear. Depending on the input to your amp/speakers, you may wish to buy the appropriate short cables to connect as needed (they're only a couple of bucks). For example I needed 1/4" to RCA for my Fosi amp, which has only RCA input; ordinary 1/4" to 1/4" jumpers for other amps or powered speakers.

The device seems as solidly made as you'd expect, and the knobs turn smoothly.

Importantly these days, the associated web site works perfectly if you happen to want to register or such, nothing is clunky.

The design FWIW is clean and modern (design in France)

The only real "user interface" is excellent and simple: if it's not getting data from the Mac, very simply the two blue leds on the two knobs on the front slowly blink. This is handy to let you know you have eg. accidentally set your Mac's audio out to something other than the MiniFuse.

I feel a fool that all these years I never bought a proper interface for macs/pcs - after all they're only about 150 bucks. We're immediately buying one for every workstation in the place.

Big thanks to Charles Cummings our advisor ta sweetwater. We are his "smallest customer" and we ask about 2 hours of questions for every purchase!

Again, most folks buy these obviously for mic / instrument input for recording. In our case it is PURELY to replace the junk output built-in to a Mac. As I mention above, if you have use speakers at all for your desktop, more than a couple hundred bucks, you will be amazed a the difference it makes using one of these.
