Go-anywhere, Record-anything Digital Mic

Record anywhere with a Shure MOTIV MV51. This sophisticated USB microphone provides you with all the basic benefits of a plug-and-play USB mic, but it has been developed specifically for iOS. Set your MV51 on the table, plug in your headphones, take out your acoustic guitar or fire up tracks in your favorite iOS DAW, and hit record — it's that easy. There are five presets you can access instantly from the MV51's touch panel, or you can dial in EQ, dynamics, and more from the free ShurePlus MOTIV app, which also lets you record in full 24-bit/48kHz. And if you want to lay down ideas in the studio before you forget them, you can transform the MV51's handy kickstand into a mic stand adapter for perfect positioning.

Turn anywhere you are into your studio

Like the rest of the MOTIV line, the MV51 was designed with iOS in mind. However, this affordable USB microphone can do everything a basic USB mic can, allowing you to connect it to your favorite desktop DAW. Even if you have a full studio setup, just having this mic on your desktop can mean the difference between capturing a song idea and missing out while you set up. The MV51 is also a great companion for your laptop, especially if you need to track overdubs. Wherever you go, whatever you record, you'll be glad you have a Shure MV51 with you.

iOS app lets you tap into powerful DSP

One of the coolest things about Shure's MOTIV series hardware is the flexible DSP onboard. While some devices let you recall multiple presets from their control panels, the ShurePlus MOTIV iOS app lets you access the entire MOTIV DSP engine. From the ShurePlus MOTIV app, you can dial in your MV51's gain structure, add compression and limiting, and fully adjust the frequency response via a graphic EQ. The ShurePlus MOTIV app also makes recording in iOS easy. The interface is simple yet effective, editing is remarkably fast and intuitive, you get full 24-bit/48kHz digital resolution, and compatibility with Dropbox and other export options streamline the rest of your creative process.

The sound you need for any application

Whether you're creating music, gathering news, podcasting, vlogging, conducting interviews, or applying your mobile device to any other recording task, your Shure MV51 delivers the top-quality sound you need. When you need the highest resolution audio you can get, turn to the dedicated ShurePlus MOTIV iOS app, where you'll get access to full 24-bit/48kHz. Sweetwater iOS recording experts love that you can program your MV51's DSP from the app and then take those settings into any other app, including your favorite video apps or iOS DAW. Lay down layers of music tracks in Cubasis, capture pristine audio for video in Pinnacle Pro, put together world-class podcasts in bossjock — it's all at your fingertips with the Shure MOTIV MV51.

Seriously?

Fantastic value. I would challenge others to do a side by side comparison with a any other higher priced microphone. Seriously difficult to justify paying more for any home studio. The app is useful and is inter app friendly. I use GarageBand.

AWESOME

Love it, it's far better than I expected it to be.

Perfect!

I have been waiting for something like this for several years now. Just plug it in to your iPhone or iPad and you are ready to go in seconds. The Shure app is cool for recording just sound, but I like to use it to add high quality audio to the great video capabilities of the iPad/iPhone - try the FilMic Pro or Movie Pro apps. I'm using it to record very loud bass guitar, and it handles the SPL with no sweat, and has exceptional low frequency response which is where most of the competitors fall short.

Close BUT No Cigar

What can be said about the Shure MV51... PACKAGING: It is well packaged, good looking and comes with every sort of cable that you need for interfacing with a variety of devices. It also has the standard manuals, registration cards and assurances that you will want for this investment. PRODUCT: WOW! This thing is beautiful to look at. It is quite heavy and built like a TANK! Everything about it from the package to the unit itself says quality. The Cap-touch selector and volume/gain control is especially nice for this USB Audio Interface segment (probably a first). It also has a Mic Mute function which is awesome too! I have no doubt that it will hold up well for many years just like everything that Shure builds. The removable stopper on the "kick stand" is a cool feature that makes it work not just as an awesome desktop solution but also when affixed on a mic stand the swivel of the mic incorporated with good placement can get you in premium position to record almost anything. It is a well thought out solution in almost every way ... except for the most important part: THE SOUND! I was disappointing in the sound quality. For everything that is going right about this product I am totally underwhelmed by the sound reproduction. I tried it on my voice in the "Speech" mode shooting an announcement video for my church with FiLMiC Pro and the MV51. I also made a few vocal recordings just of songwriting ideas and other musings but again just short of the mark. Finally I tried it on my guitar (EPI FT-350 SCE purchased from Sweetwater as well) and was again the result disappointing. It sounds pretty good for FaceTime, Skype and Podcasting duty in the "Flat" or "Speech" modes and will surely please if that is the primary purpose BUT if you are looking for audio capture for music first, then you should probably lower your expectations. I bought this to augment my mobile recording kit (Apogee Duet interface) for the times when I do not have electricity available. SERVICE: Also, thanks to Dave Walent for getting this order picked, packed and out to me pronto. I was pleasantly surprised to see it on my desk when I walked through the door.
