Mathematical, Musical Analog Function Module

The quad-channel Make Noise Maths is a Eurorack-format function generator module — essentially, an analog computer designed for making music — and it's laid out intuitively from top to bottom with channels one and four in functional near-symmetry. Channels one and four can scale, invert or integrate incoming signal, and channels two and three can scale, amplify, and invert the incoming signal. Even with no signal applied, all four channels of Maths can produce a wide spectrum of linear, logarithmic, and exponential functions. Among other improvements, this generation of Maths features upgraded LED indicators to show both positive and negative voltages and increased display resolution.

Small computer, now with increased capability

Modular synth pros at Sweetwater are amazed by this computer's abilities. With Maths, you can: create VC envelopes or LFO with anywhere from a 20+ minute cycle to 1kHz frequency; apply lag, slew or portamento to CV for cool slurred effects; change modulation depths and modulate backward; and even create more complex modulations from combinations of up to four control signals. But that's not all! You get on-command initiation of musical events such as tempo ramp-up or -down as well as musical note division and/or flamming. Generation two improvements include: an inverted Sum output; improved logarithmic range in the Vari-response control (East Coast-style portamento!); upgraded LED display resolution/functionality; Unity signal output, giving you two variations of output; and Cycle input that allows for VC of the cycle state in channels one and four (cycles on Gate High and upon engagement of Cycle button).

Make Noise Maths Complex Function Generator Eurorack Module Features:

  • 20HP music-making analog computer in Eurorack module form expands your creativity
  • Performs myriad linear, logarithmic, and exponential triggered or continuous functions
  • Lets you generate VC envelopes or LFO for musical patches
  • Amplify, attenuate, integrate or invert incoming signal for greater creative flexibility
  • Apply lag, slew, or portamento to control voltages for cool slurred effects
  • Combine up to 4 CV for more complex modulations
  • EOR and EOC pulses with LED state indicators make more complex functions possible
  • Upgraded LEDs indicate activity on all outputs for visual reference
  • Made in Asheville, N.C., USA

Note: requires a Eurorack case and power supply (sold separately).

Make Nois Maths
A great module for alot of reasons... excellent envelope generator or modulation over time to open up filters while you mess around with other modules. Intelligel is built strong. I highly suggest you pick one up.

Beautiful Module I am currently using it to add fullness to my other eight osillators!!!I am sure it does much more but I have not gotten to it yet!!

MATHS is a Classic!
There's a reason that you see this module on a LOT of rigs. It's versatility and reasonable price is a great reason to buy. Fashioned after the creations of Don Buchla (Model 257 and Model 281). Switches between cycling and triggered envelopes, and also provides LFOs. Highly recommended.

Great Module!
I can't imagine my rack without it, and I don't think I've even scratched the surface. Amazing module.

Amazing unit. I may need to get another one...
MATHS has quickly become the secret weapon in my modular setup. The sheer amount of things that I have been able to do with this unit in such a short period of time has really made me a huge fan of this module. At some point, I just might throw in a second MATHS. Outstandingly creative and a pure joy to play with.

I’ve been using and performing with modular synths for over 10 years, and I’ve used Maths from the very beginning. It's so versatile I use it in every patch I make. My favorite use for it is designing kick drum sounds due to its extremely snappy envelopes. It combines so many features such as the ability to act as an envelope generator, LFO, logic processor, slew limiter, mixer and attenuverter. This is a must have in any size system and is the snappiest envelope generator I’ve ever used.
