Semi-open-back design gives you the best of both worlds

When AKG created their K240 Studio headphones, they set out to strike the perfect balance between a conventional closed-back design and a high-end open-back design. The result is a pair of headphones that gives you the detailed highs and accurate lows you'd expect from an open-back design, but with the tight, closed-back style acoustical isolation you need for tracking. What's more, K240 Studio headphones let your ears breathe, so you experience next to no ear fatigue - something you'll really love the next time you have to pull an all-night mixing session.

Superior sound through superior headphone technology

We could rattle off a bunch of specs or wax poetic about the K240 Studio's Varimotion low-impedance transducers, but the fact of the matter is that AKG truly broke new ground when they engineered these amazing headphones. K240 Studio headphones sport lighter, more responsive transducers than the kind typically found in affordable models. This means K240 Studios respond clearly and loudly even to weak signals, allowing you to monitor unmastered tracks accurately, without cranking the gain. Incidentally, this same low-impedance transducer technology lets K240 Studios get the most out of your iPod or other portable music player, so they're ideal for casual listening, too.

Quality construction that's built to last a lifetime

When you invest in a pair of AKG K240 Studio headphones, you get the kind of quality gear you can count on for the long haul. First off, AKG builds their K240 Studio headphones to the highest standards, ensuring that they're ready to stand up to typical studio use and abuse. But accidents happen. Cables can break and earcups eventually wear out. Fortunately, these are easy to replace, and you'll find replacement cables and earcups for your K240 Studio headphones right here at Sweetwater.

Designed for a purpose.

I just received my 5th and 6th pair today, and with several reasons. When it comes to recording. 1. Flat frequency response is a must when monitoring and mixing. The K240s have it. 2. If you want to monitor from various locations without taking your headphones from room to room, you have to have several headphones sets, that match. The K240s are one of the few headphones I've purchased multiple sets of, that sound alike. 3. The consistency from set to set, also comes in handy, when sharing mixes with several people, using a headphone mixer. You can rest assured the people you are working with, are hearing the same thing you are. 4. Another point with what you mix and monitor on, is that the results have to sound good on other systems as well. If they don't, people aren't going to listen. I have found that what I mix on the K240s sounds good on my computer, car stereo, monitor speakers etc. I have taken my mixes to a friend of mine that still operates a studio, and monitored them on his Mackie HR series monitors, and they sound good. 5. If you are looking for isolation, these won't be among your top choices, the semi open design doesn't excel in that area. They offer very little in that respect. 6. Clarity is another area, that is important when you are working with a raw mix, and are working to mix it down. Clarity is hard to define, but it allows you to hear subtle details in a raw mix, that allows you refine them into a final mix. The K240s are better at that, than a lot of studio monitors. 7. If you understand that when it come to mixing and monitoring, you don't want to hear enhancements, you want to hear reality, so you can enhance it yourself, then you won't find the K240s lacking. They'll deliver, what you deliver. Monitor systems aren't designed to make you sound good, they are designed to deliver you the facts.

Great Headphones for the Buck

My other Sony MDR V-6's gave up the ghost so I started the quest of finding a set of phones that were accurate, comfortable and NOT flat response. I tried the comparable Sennheiser phones and they were uncomfortable and heavy mid-range. Wayne, my Sweetwater agent, recommended the AKG K240 phones. I then remembered using AKGs many years ago in several recording studios and gave them a try. First thing I noticed was absolutely ZERO ear fatigue! Even after several hours use, it was like they were a part of me. Also they are extremely comfortable with great overall balance of frequencies.I mostly mix from monitors but these give a wonderful perspective of the overall mix. For the price, they can't be beat.

Very Nice

The sound is very sweet. Not hyped or anything, just good. It sounds like the music is in the room with you.

Anyone seen my head? Blown Away!

If your looking for professional headsets with a people price, these are the sets for you. These sound like their big brothers and have wide-range sound reproduction. The newly designed ear-cups are larger and are not as uncomfortable than the K141 Studio. Bang for buck here!! A must for any enthusiast and required by professionals. Awesome sound, with the Sweetwater style.

I've used AKG headphones for close to 30 years now - it's hard to believe it's been that long! My last pair stood by me for 22 of those years and only recently needed to be replaced. AKG have proven to me time and again that they are the 'phones I want and need.
