Line 6's Flagship Floor Unit Gets a Makeover

The Space Gray Line 6 Helix multi-effects floorboard processor reaches far beyond anything you've ever experienced. It can be a great addition to your rig, a streamlined controller for your existing system, or an incredible-sounding guitar interface for recording in the studio. It can even replace your entire effects setup! Equipped with Line 6's HX modeling engine, Helix will let you hear breathtaking models of modern and vintage amps, cabs, mics, and effects — all designed to sound and feel just like the originals. And your rig-integration options are limitless, with Helix's astoundingly comprehensive I/O and routing capabilities. Line 6 has long been at the forefront of the modeling revolution, and Helix is the professional guitar processor Line 6 was destined to create.

Power to spare

Line 6 spearheaded the modeling revolution years ago. Now they are stepping into the future with Helix. At the core of the Helix is Line 6's dual DSP HX modeling engine. Representing a giant leap forward in guitar technology, the HX engine reproduces every minute detail that goes into a great amplifier. Every single detail has been taken into account, down to an amplifier's power supply ripple and tube sag, ensuring you receive an ultra-realistic playing feel and experience. The classic bloom and compression of some amps and the powerful punch of others are all faithfully accounted for. Plus, you can also load custom impulse responses to personalize your tone.

Up and running in no time

Before Helix, powerful amp and effects modeling came with a significant learning curve. But even with a massive amount of routing, recording, and editing power under the hood, Helix's touch-sensitive footswitches let you actually edit your whole sound with your feet, without even having to stop playing. And the large 6.2" LCD display rids the system of all the menu surfing, while giving as much control as the deepest editing software. It's so intuitive to navigate that Line 6 claims you'll have 90% of Helix mastered within a five-minute glance at the full-color Helix quick-start guide; and we're not just talking tone editing. Design your rig at the speed of thought.

Give Helix the control

Already have a beloved guitar rig that you've spent years getting just right? Perfect! Helix also makes a robust controller for your rig. Offering one of the most in-depth routing I/Os on any guitar processor, it allows you to easily create a hardware/software hybrid setup integrating your other pedals, your channel-switching tube amplifier, your rack equipment, and even other instruments. And you do it all through Helix's four stereo effects loops. You can send multiple wet and dry signals to different sources, place the loops in various locations in your signal chain, swap between your amp and modeled sounds, switch channels on your external amps, and so much more, at the press of a footswitch. You can even take control of your band's MIDI rig with up to six separate MIDI commands at patch recall.

Changes with the tap of the toe

If there's one thing Sweetwater guitar players know, it's that guitarists love stompbox pedals. While menu and software editing can offer great tones and control, we're naturally inclined to want to step on a footswitch and hear the tone we're looking for. Line 6 understands that, which is why Helix eschews all of the deep and confusing editing that plagues many other pro-level products, for a simple-to-use 12-footswitch interface that gives you all the sound and parameter tweaking you'll ever need. And each switch carries a customizable LCD scribble strip for assigning names to your controls. Now you don't even have to stop playing to get comprehensive control of your whole rig.

Tour-grade durability

Since gear takes such a beating on the road, every single component in the Line 6 Helix was chosen to be able to stand up to the punishment a professional guitarist will put it through. Helix combats the abuse with roadworthy footswitches and a bulletproof housing. From the side panels to the extruded top, the solid-aluminum construction won't bend or break. It will let you concentrate on your performance, not your gear. Even the expression pedal is made from the same aluminum. So if you're a gigging musician who needs a tour-grade multi-effects unit that can keep up with you, make sure to give Helix an audition.

Helix answers your guitar gear needs

It almost doesn't matter what amp or effect you're looking for. Since Helix can be used as a standard amp modeler, a streamlined controller for your rig, a guitar interface, or your entire rig by itself, it has everything you need to suite almost any scenario. Line 6's HX modeling engine gives you all the sounds they're known for, completely redesigned to be amazingly accurate. And your rig-integration options are limitless with Helix's comprehensive I/O. Helix is Line 6's most advanced processor yet, and it could easily become the most valuable tool in your sonic arsenal!

Powerful IR-based speaker cab engine…and more!

With the Helix 3.50 firmware update, you get a completely overhauled, IR-based speaker cabinet engine. Not only do you receive 20 guitar cabs and four bass cabs, but you can also choose between 12 microphones, with fully adjustable angles, positions, and distances in relation to the cabs. Best of all, you can drag the virtual mics around for spot-on placement, just like you would in the real world. Helix's 3.50 "The Cab Update" also includes five new amp models, seven new effects, a Dual IR block, and more.

Game changer!

I upgraded from the PodGo, which I also loved. This unit is awesome! There is a bit of a learning curve, but what I love is that I can set up a few patches, then just plug-in and play. For someone who is really busy but still desires, a great professional sound, this is probably the best solution out there. I'm only scratching the surface of the Helix's potential!

Another winner by Line6

I have been a Line6 customer since 2005. I have owned every floor multi effects unit since the XT. The one thing that I've always done is try to look into all the options possible within Line6 products. Back a couple units ago they finally let you go from basically going from patches to scenes and that was pretty cool but it didn't have one option that I always asked for. Enter the helix; the helix with the snapshot option is just beyond amazing and this is what I have been trying to do since 2005.Now with the helix is just simply amazing the options I have owned mine now for about three months maybe four and I am just now getting into the programming of the unit. The programming will go as deep as you want to go, for me it's kind of scary. Well I am a technology type of person with my Microsoft MCSC cert these units it just baffles me it's kind of funny actually. But enter the Helix I run my helix through a pair of headrush 12" speakers. The sound is simply amazing. Snapshots is something I have asked for and after a few decades Line6 has given the guitar player. Thank you.....

Love My Helix!

I initially purchased a Helix Stomp XL, and used it in conjunction with a few analog pedals on my pedalboard, but realized quickly that the extra processing power was going to be worth the effort, and I wasn't wrong. I don't use the cab emulation, because I go through the return on my effects loop, and it sounds amazing through my EVH cabinet, but it's so responsive, being able to tailor everything to specific guitars, and even use it as an acoustic amp is just a game changer. Absolutely love it!

Excellent unit

I recently upgraded from the LT to the floor in space grey. Love the extras and the color is very cool. I have several Amps and love them all but the versatility and load in/out and setup time is hard to beat with the helix. My rep Todd was a great help as always.

Still Amazing in 2023.

Still Amazing in 2023.

I have been playing since 78 and owned lots of gear. Forever chasing tone. I did the modeling thing 15 years ago but went back to amps when I got into a cover band that was playing 3 or 4 times a month. I had the Monster set up of a Marshall w 4 x 12. I got tired of lugging that around moved to a 1x12 Marshall Combo. Still freaking heavy. During those amp years I had Line6 Multi Effect products & really got to like them. The last being the HX Effects AKA Helix with out amps. I decided at my age lugging an amp & pedal board and amp around was too much plus modeling had advanced so far since I was last there. So December 2022 Enter the Helix floor. I even got the cool Sweetwater gray one.
If you want to get the most out of this fantastic tool you will need to spend a little time to learn about it. Watch some videos. This was great for learning what to do & not. It will help you set it up they way it works best for you and how to build presets.
When I build presets I found treat it like the real world. If you turn this knob or that on an amp or pedal to get a sound do that. There is so much under the hood & Line6 has been great about adding stuff. Check out several different amps or effects. I was surprised the Marshalls are not my go to in the Helix. They sound great but I found new ones I like more. Play around as much as you can. I have found several amps and pedals I never used before that I love. I do suggest downloading the free editing tool from Line6 as it makes it easier to dial in sounds and easily hear what changes sound like.
I run the Helix into a Headrush 8-inch powered speaker mainly for a little monitoring. Thinking of leaving that at home soon. Does it sound like my Marshall and 4X12? Nope, because it's coming out of 1 8-inch speaker. It sounds good to practice with. However, into the PA it sure sounds like a miced cab. That's just what I want.
I have it set up to give me 4 snap shots in the bottom row Clean, Punch, OD & lead for most of my gigging presets . At the top I have 4 stomps for whatever effects I may want on or off & a Boost. I picked the floor over the LT because I wanted the scribble strips above each effect switch. Now I don't need to remember what is what. It helps I can name them what I want. That is helpful in the cases where 1 switch turns something on & something off.
I am discovering new stuff all the time in this unit. I'm using effects I never have before. I invested less than $20. In presets from the Market Place to hear what the pros do & found I'm not far off on my own. There are a ton of free presets you can get from YouTube videos or line6 as well. I now use the best of what I learned for my stuff. Personally, I do not find a need for IRs as the last update Line6 stepped them up a ton. It's a lot of fun to check out a different amp and cab combos the possibilities are endless.

I still use a pedal board live but really do not need what is on it. Line6 Wireless, Keely Compressor+ (just because), PitchFork+ we do a lot of songs ½ step and keep my guitar standard. The Helix Harmony stuff is a bit of a DSP hog, and a Buddy Guy Wha just because I love that pedal.

One thing I have found about Line6 is they support their stuff. You can find many answers on line but if you need you can call and talk to an actual person. That is HUGE & why I have supported Line^ for so many years.

So now rather than showing up to a gig with a loaded SUV I can just bring the helix in a backpack & a guitar. I see this as my rig going forward. I'm just scratching the surface of what this thing can do and I'm wowed. I should have jumped in sooner.
