What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Success!

Check out my video! I am a performing musician of 30 years. I've done some professional recording, but not in some time. I still play out every weekend, and at home, I mainly use a karaoke app (Smule) for fun. Recording with a phone mic is, eh, tolerable, I guess. I first bought a dongle adapter to use with my Shure SM58. Nope, didn't work. I ordered this without high hopes. Finally used it for the first time last night. The difference is awesome! Word to the wise, if you're a musical snob critic like me, it's much like studio recording with your pro mic- very unforgiving, lol. Picks up every nuance, every pitch miss, every failed run, lol... I'm ok with that, tho, it's what I do. So glad I bought it.

This thing is a Miracle.

Anyone who has tried to live-stream from a mixing board has experienced the acoustic instruments sounding good and then the vocalist blowing out the meters or the guitar solo jumping 10db with no warning making a horrible mix. Here is the solution for you.

Many Churches are using iPhones and (Others) to broadcast messages directly from the sound board or using the internal Mic (Yuck).
You can send from your board 1/4 to XLR to GoVocal and then in Device. Balanced control!!! Yippeeeeee!

I bought 2 of these before the pandemic for my daughter to produce quality sound content for her Marketing and Communications studies. It hasn't disappointed. It will take some tweaking to adjust sound levels when using a condenser Mic (sometimes picks up background) once dialed in set it and forget it.

It provides 48v for the condenser mics too!
Just make sure you keep 9 volt batteries on hand.
Mine have lasted long enough to forget about them but usually just as I was starting a recording.
In almost 3 months of use 10hrs a week I just changed the battery for safety. LOL

I highly recommend this product for it's simplicity, quality and outstanding price point.

Nice pre

I brought this for traveling to get some sounds into garage band on my iPhone. It has worked fantastic for me I had a adapter for guitar cables to XLR the canon kind nothing fancy brought it at Radio Shack many years ago and I was able to get a very nice sound into garage band using the amps sims that come with garage band. I have a small pencil condenser mic that I brought for 5 dollars off the internet I forgot the name of the company but it sounds ok it needs phantom power and the Go Vocal powered it with no problems using the 9 volt battery. I have been using this for 2 months now and I have recorded some nice demos that I am happy with and I can send them out to people that I am working with and have a decent sound, you can use any DI you want and it should work fine. You will need to get the adapter from lighting to 1/8th the headphone one and your good to go I did find the headphone out a little week and I use a 4 channel powered headphone amp when I need it. But if you are looking for a nice sounding pre to get sounds into your phone this works well I am happy with this purchase

Create a Custom Headset on a MacBook Pro

I'm not fond of the sound quality of most headsets (either mic or phones). If you plug the GoVocal into your headphone jack on a MacBook Pro, it finds both the audio in and the audio out, similar to a headset. Just plug your favorite headphones into the headphone out on the GoVocal, and your favorite microphone into the XLR in on the GoVocal. Run the mic through a mixer and into the GoVocal if you want to eq the mic and/or use the mixer's phantom power to save battery life. It works great, for example, with Zoom. In Zoom's audio settings, choose both the "external microphone/headphones" in and out and this setup gives you audio out on your headphones, and audio in on your favorite microphone. If you prefer your audio out to be through your speakers, use Zoom's audio settings to choose just the external microphone in and choose your speakers for audio out. In this scenario, the GoVocal becomes simply an AD converter. Completely versatile. Just remember to change the battery when needed! And remember that battery life is cut by about 1/3 using phantom power. All in all, not audiophile recording quality, but a big step up from computer sound or most headsets for video conferencing.

Great Preamp for Mobile Devices

I bought the TC-Helicon GO VOCAL after installing Peterson iStroboSoft on an iPad and an Android phone. Using Peterson's Pitch Grabber cable works on both devices, but the input gain on the phone is less so it didn't perform as well. I thought this preamp might be the solution, although it would require an adapter to convert mini TRRS to XLR male. I don't have that adapter yet but I did test this device for its intended purpose. I plugged a decent condenser mic into it, turned on the +48V, and overdubbed an acoustic guitar part onto a multitrack demo project in Garage Band. It sounded very, very good!
