Classic Hollowbody from Gretsch!

The G6119T-ET Players Edition Tennessee Rose with Electrone Body from Gretsch supplies you with the classic hollowbody tone that so many rockabilly, jazz, blues, and rock players have fallen in love with over the decades. But the G6119T-ET hollowbody electric guitar is not just a throwback — this beauty has been designed for modern playing styles as well. Thanks to an arched maple body, the G6119T-ET delivers an open-sounding snap, putting its tone front and center of any mix — ideal for both the studio and the stage. The smooth U-shaped maple neck with rosewood fingerboard offers incredible response and playability, letting you rip off smoking leads and fat, chugging chords. And when you plug in, FT-67 Filter'Tron humbucking pickups deliver all the snarl and purr you desire. Finally, a classic Bigsby string-through tailpiece provides vintage, twangy tremolo and sustain.

Arched maple body enhances tone with excellent definition

Maple is considered by many to be one of the most lively, bright, and colorful tonewoods out there, which is exactly why Gretsch decided to make their Gretsch G6119T-ET Players Edition Tennessee Rose with Electrone Body almost entirely out of this wonderful wood. At Sweetwater, we've found that this hollowbody's arched body yields a snappy, open tone that — when combined with the pristine sound of its Filter'Tron humbuckers — sounds wonderful across a variety of musical styles.

Wide-ranging tone from FT-67 Filter'Tron humbuckers

The Gretsch G6119T-ET Players Edition Anniversary Tennessee Rose with Electrone Body packs a wide-ranging voice, thanks to two FT-67 Filter'Tron humbuckers. These pickups deliver a broad range of tones, spanning a clear high end, a glassy midrange, a robust low end, and balanced harmonics. And with these renowned noise-canceling humbuckers, you know your tone will be the show stealer of the night! The 6119T-ET also features a volume control for each pickup, so you can create your perfect balance of warmth, bite, and brilliance when both pickups are engaged. The master tone control lets you fine-tune your sound once you have the pickups dialed in, and the master volume control lets you take your tube amp from clean to growling without changing the balance between your pickups. Of course, you'll get sweet tone from the neck and bridge pickups individually, but there's a lot of territory to cover when you combine them.

Bigsby tailpiece yields smooth vibrato action

Nothing beats the character and vintage vibe that a real Bigsby-style tailpiece adds to the Gretsch G6119T-ET Players Edition Tennessee Rose with Electrone Body. Based on the original design created by Paul A. Bigsby, this Bigsby-licensed tailpiece requires little effort to use, making it particularly easy to pull off slow, subtle, and extended bends.

Gretsch G6119T-ET Players Edition Tennessee Rose with Electrone Body Hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Classic hollowbody electric guitar with period-correct specs
  • Arched maple body delivers a deliciously snappy, open tone
  • 2 Filter'Tron humbuckers yield pristine tone
  • Highly playable standard U-shaped maple neck with rosewood fingerboard
  • 2 volume controls and 1 tone control create exceptional sonic flexibility
  • Bigsby tailpiece provides smooth vibrato action

My New Favorite Guitar

The Tennessee Rose arrived setup perfectly. The build quality is outstanding. I really love the neck on this guitar, very comfortable, very easy to play. FT-67 Filter'Tron humbucker pick-up where have you been all my life! Goes from bell like chime to PAF chunk with the twist of the master volume knob. Sounds wonderful thru the Magnatone Twilighter which has a Jensen P12Q I got from Sweetwater last month to tame the amp a bit.. the original Speaker was too efficient.
Thanks again Jared for your help, Sweetwater is the best guitar and gear buying experience!

5 out of 5

I've had this guitar for a little over a month and both my guitar playing friends and I think it is a great guitar—it even sounds good unplugged. If you type in "gretsch 6119 players" into youtube, you'll find a 5-ish minute video from Peach Guitars that contains no talking and gives you all kinds of tones you can get out of the 6119 Tennessee Rose Players Edition. The FT67 filtertron pickups have a nice clean sparkle and the narrower 2.25 inch hollow body resists feedback better than a traditional Gretsch hollow body once you start cranking up the gain. The f-holes on the cherry stain finish are simulated (painted on), so you get a true hollow body that can take you from rockabilly and country all the way to hard rock and blues. It may not be the best choice for ultra-high gain metal, but you can coax a variety of really nice tones from it. With just the bridge pickup engaged (and a Marshall amp), you can even venture into some AC/DC late great Malcolm Young rhythm guitar territory. Last (and not least) it is one of the least expensive guitars in the Gretsch professional line-up. I think Gretsch deserves some extra praise for coming up with the players edition line-up and giving customers a more versatile guitar that still maintains the traditional Gretsch/filtertron twang when you want it. Also—Sweetwater folks were great to deal with during the purchase and shipment of the guitar. Give this instrument some serious consideration and keep on rockin'!
