Class A tube design

Radial's Firefly DI features a front end circuit that is 100% discrete Class A without any circuit stabilizing negative feedback. You'll love the warmth and detail that you get with the unique front end and the Firefly's 12AX7 drive circuit.

Load correction

You want to make sure that your signal load is accurate so you represent the instrument being recorded not an over-exaggerated version of it. Firefly has a Drag Control that lets you adjust the load to make sure you get a more natural sound when recording. When you bypass the Drag Control the load raises 4 meg-ohms letting you use it with piezo pickups found in acoustic instruments.

Solid Construction

Look inside the Radial Firefly and you'll find the build quality and components to be of only the highest professional standards. Radial's proven construction methods and materials ensure years of trouble-free service - able to withstand the rigors of the most demanding, high-use professional environments.

Killer DI!

A well built box! I'm using it in my live acoustic setup & am incredibly happy. I have several instruments I use on stage and this DI is so versatile. I own several pickup systems and they all sound better through the firefly than ever before. Adds a ton of warmth and helps get good round sounding tone. The foot switch is optimal for live use, making it easy to switch between 2 different instruments and to mute while tuning. Looking forward to using it in the studio on my new record. Thanks as always to sweetwater for their above and beyond service!

To DI For!

This is by far the most stunning DI I've ever used. It provides real tube warmth to my acoustic guitars, bass, and keys. Even mediocre AG pickups like the Taylor Expression 1 sound amazing through this. The Firefly is my primary AG DI (tours in a rack); with it I seldom need compression, and little to no eq. If you want a big, warm sound, then I highly recommend trying one. The high pass filter is fantastic for AGs. I've also used the Firefly on bass to get amazing recording tone, and keyboards don't sound so cold and digital when using the Firefly. This DI does add tube colour (think 76 tube pre colour).

Looking for the ultimate direct-instrument interface? Whether "ultimate" means sound quality or functionality, you must check out the Radial Firefly. The Firefly just may be the most full-featured direct box I've ever seen. This tube- and transformer-driven DI has two instrument inputs, each with its own level control. Using a front-panel switch, you can toggle between the inputs. There are a tuner output and an input for a mute footswitch, so you can tune without running through the PA or monitors. An insert point lets you connect guitar pedals or rack gear, and a switchable Thru jack routes your signal to a stage amp either before or after the insert jack and the tube stage. An XLR output with a level pot up front feeds your mixer or DAW with anything from mic to line-level signals. Other features include polarity reverse and ground lift, and there's an adjustable low-cut control for removing rumble, thump, or resonance. One of the coolest features is the trademark Radial Drag control, which matches the DI's input load to what your instrument's pickup wants to see for best tone. Sonically, the Firefly is rich and full sounding. I tried it with an electric 12-string guitar as well as a 6-string acoustic with a pickup, and it sounded great for both. With the Drag control, you can really make a passive pickup sing. For stage use, the Firefly is unequaled - Radial clearly spent a lot of time thinking this one through. All those features are also useful in the studio. And in both cases, the sound is exemplary. The Firefly may be the last DI you ever need!
