FabFilter Pro-Q 2 EQ and Filter Plug-in
Delivered In Minutes!

This EQ/Filter Plug-in Helps You Mix Better

More than a powerful EQ plug-in, the FabFilter Pro-Q 2 is ready to become your go-to sound shaping tool. Make subtle tweaks or heavily filter your audio with a wide range of filter types and up to 24 EQ bands. Make your snare drums crack, add brilliance to vocals, or even match the EQ curve of one track to another. If you only had one EQ plug-in for production and mixing, Pro-Q 2 would be a smart choice. Engineers at Sweetwater normally would use at least two or three distinct filter and EQ plug-ins to cover all of the functionality offered by the FabFilter Pro-Q 2 plug-in.

FabFilter Pro-Q 2 Filter/EQ Plug-in at a Glance:
  • This EQ can sound transparent, or analog-like
  • Piano Roll display makes musical mixing easier than ever
  • Auto Gain mode makes mixing smoother and easier
This EQ can sound transparent, or analog-like

In addition to the ultra-transparent Linear Phase mode on the FabFilter Pro-Q 2 plug-in, you'll find a Natural Phase mode which has an undeniably analog vibe to it. Natural Phase mode matches the magnitude response and phase response of an analog equalizer, without unwanted audible artifacts. At Sweetwater, we know that digital EQs start showing their true colors when you start boosting heavily, and that's where Pro-Q 2 is most impressive.

Piano Roll display makes musical mixing easier than ever

Mix engineers at Sweetwater know that where you set your EQ frequencies makes a huge impact on your mix. If you're cutting a frequency that falls close to the key of the song you're mixing, you'll notice a drop in energy and excitement and may not know why. The piano roll view in Pro-Q 2 shows you at a glance what note range you're working in, allowing you to make more musical EQ choices and better-sounding mixes.

Auto Gain mode makes mixing smoother and easier

When you're making heavy boosts or cuts to an EQ, you're altering the overall volume level of that track. The Auto Gain mode in the FabFilter Pro-Q 2 plug-in compensates the main output based on how you're boosting or cutting. When you need to make an EQ tweak after your basic mix levels have been set, you can do so without upsetting the overall balance of your mix.

FabFilter Pro-Q 2 Filter/EQ Plug-in Features:
  • Comprehensive EQ and filter plug-in for Mac and PC
  • Completely re-designed EQ and filter engine for highest possible sound quality
  • Select between transparent operation in Linear Phase mode, or analog-like sound with Natural Phase mode

Forensic Use

I literally have hundreds of plug ins gathered over the past couple decades using everything from pro tools to iZotope 6 RX advanced. This plug in for frequency isolation is in a league by itself. This due to the quick on and off of what FabFilter labels the "headphone feature" which is actually a FQ isolation of whatever band you are working on. Separating voices out of a crowd requires precise frequency following as people turn their heads during moving conversations, creating Phase and Doppler issues. The isolation aspect of this EQ has no equal. It is just one tool in a hefty tool box, but a very welcome addition. No one tool does it all as it can be quite laborious to isolate a voice out of a crowd. All ambient situations vary and have to be taken into account. The worst variable usually being the quality of the recording... both in sample rate, cheap government equipment and distance from a conversation.

I love Pro-Q 2!!!

You gotta have an EQ there is no way around it! I absolutely love this EQ! It is very transparent, very clean, its right on point. All of the reviews i read I agree with them 100%. There is no way around it, if you want a great EQ plugin then here is your answer!

Goes on First

I use this EQ on everything. It's the first thing I put on a channel these days. It's also light enough that I don't have to worry about burning CPU. I've got dozens of EQs and this the one I grab first. One of the best in my toolbox.

A must have EQ Plug

After YEARS of using the same EQ plug-ins and not feeling I was getting clean results I finally decided to make the jump to the Pro Q2 when they released it, and I was NOT disappointed! The first instance I used it for a kick drum I was having trouble with and in seconds with the many filter types and the auto-gain (big deciding factor for me) I was able to get the best kick drum sound I’ve ever accomplished. I couldn’t believe the amount of coloring I was getting from my old EQ plug, and NOT in a good way. It was muddy, and did not do a good job at boosting without adding artifacts. I can honestly say I will never need another EQ plug besides the Pro Q2. Hardware on the other hand ;)

Clean, easy and flexible

One of the best EQs you will find My approach to mixing is to set up a submix (approx 8 stereo channels) that take in all the stems. On the submix channels I use UAD plugins, all the high quality stuff that takes a lot of processing But once I have a good balance on the submix, I will go onto fine tuning the stems (EQ, compress, gate). For that part the Fabfilter products are awesome! The Fabfilter Pro-Q does not add any coloring, so the submix balance stays good. It's extremely user friendly, flexible and quick to navigate/learn Highly recommended!

Sweetwater Advice

Tyler Berggren

I didn't think I needed another EQ. But after using FabFilter Pro-Q, I'll be using my other EQ plug-ins a whole lot less! There really isn't anything this EQ can't do. The GUI is amazing - I can see every little detail in my signal. It's not vibey and it's not harsh - just a utilitarian approach to EQ that can handle anything I throw at it.
