The Fender Custom Shop Founders Series John Page Esquire comes from the mind and hands of one of the Custom Shop's original luthiers. Originally designed during his days at Fender, the semi-hollowbody John Page Esquire boasts a mix of early designs as well as today's modern possibilities. Its semi-hollow roasted mahogany body is capped with deeply figured koa — a tip of the hat to Page's mentor and Stratocaster designer Freddie Tavares. And the hand-wound Josefina OBG single-coil pickup delivers a familiar tone with added acoustic resonance.

Celebrates 30 years of the Fender Custom Shop
The year 2017 marks 30 years of the Fender Custom Shop. And Fender is celebrating the occasion with the Fender Custom Shop Founders Series. Created by the original craftsmen of the Custom Shop, each of the eight instruments in the lineup displays the individual builder's personal techniques, preferences, and style. Fender basically gave each craftsman a blank canvas and told them to create the instrument of their dreams. Based around iconic Fender platforms, the guitars in the Founders Series take this legendary brand to a new level of artistry, quality, and craftsmanship.
Designed by master luthier John Page
Not only was John Page one of the first luthiers brought on to Fender's Custom Shop, but he was the leader of the group from '87 to '98. Page had the opportunity to begin his career at Fender, learning from the designers of some of the most famous guitar models in history. Page took those lessons to heart and has been building top-quality guitars for the likes of Pete Townshend, David Gilmour, and more. After his career at Fender, Page has continued to hone his talent and craft exquisite instruments. The Founders Series John Page Esquire is a perfect example of his artistry.
An exotic take on a beloved model
The Fender Custom Shop Founders Series John Page Esquire began its life in the 1980s when Page originally came up with the design. His goal was to craft an instrument that would fit as comfortably with a full band as it would strummed acoustically. The instrument's semi-hollow roasted mahogany body delivers a warmth to the guitar's tone. And though the original design utilized spruce, the Founders Series John Page Esquire proudly displays a beautifully figured koa top, which is a tribute to Page's guitar-building mentor.
