RESOLVED: ETY "standard fit" is noticably smaller

Ryan just sent me a set of the correct size ear plugs. Very fast response. Sweetwater really stands behind its products. Excellent. Please delete my previous review. Thanks Ryan!

Must have for drummers

Having been a competitive shooter for many years, I've tried hearing protection for shooting while playing - no good. The ETY plugs are different because they reduce frequencies across the spectrum, the effect being that everything sounds natural, but like the volume has been turned down. Muffs can be OK for practice (they filter out high overtones), but they are hot look silly when playing with other musicians. My only complaint: They're hard to clean.

Way Better Than Foam!

I bought a set of the ETY's earlier this year after attending a rather loud concert. A friend lent me some expanding foam earplugs, which really helped, so I decided some better hearing protection was in order. I was impressed on how the ETY's attenuate the sound, letting it mostly sound the same, just quieter. I now use mine around the house, especially when mowing and riding my motorcycle. Great for drummers! They still let you hear what is going on, without muffling everything. I like them so much, I purchased a second set at Gearfest. Protect your hearing...get these!

They work great! I can leave the parties without my ears ringing now. I can also still have conversations with people.

I wish I had gotten these sooner

I have to say that these ear plugs are really, really good. I've been playing in bands for well over a decade now and, depending on the band and the situation, my ears would almost always be ringing after playing. Now, as I'm sure most off us musicians know that is not good because that is the sound of some of your hearing dying. I had use the standard earplugs but they always completely muffled and distorted the sound so I avoided using them more often then not. I'd seen ear plugs like this and had always meant to but a pair but it was just something that always slipped my mind. But I finally got them and that are almost all that I had hoped for. They do, for the most part, just bring every frequency in for an overall db drop. However, they do seem to cut out a little bit more of the highs and upper miss. So, they do distort the sound somewhat, but it is nowhere near though generic foam ear plugs. I would highly recommend a pair to anyone who plays regularly at high volumes.
