The String Machine from EastWest is a plug-in homage to string synths of the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s that’s packed with strings, pads, brass instruments, woodwinds, and much more. Each sound onboard features immaculate research and design from Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, leveraging decades of combined experience crafting vintage-inspired virtual instruments. The String Machine features four independent instrument sections that are color coded for simplicity. Sections feature solo and ensemble options that let you craft minimalist and maximalist sounds and everything in between — a gamut of options expanded even further with effects like reverb and rich independent chorus controls for each section. The plug-in comes pre-loaded with 17 presets, and musicians can easily create and store their favorite sounds for recall. This is one synth plug-in not to miss!

Meticulous design inspired by famous synths
Sweetwater studio pros love a well-researched plug-in, and the String Machine is no exception. EastWest sound designers directly sampled a number of classic string machine synths that fit the bill. And while the sounds are vintage, the ways you can use them are robust and wide ranging, thanks to the String Machine’s addition of modern tools and extra instruments that match the source material’s vibe. Furthermore, the String Machine’s interface itself takes its cues from hardware units with chunky switches, gliding sliders, and real on-screen controls that capture the essence of hardware units. The resulting sounds are easy to tailor to countless genres including pop, chillwave, synthwave, rock, ambient scores, and much more.

No vintage String Machine would be complete without outstanding chorus effects! The String Machine software offers just that with an impressive spread of chorus options with independent controls for each instrument section. There are three unique chorus modes with tones that range from saturated vintage warmth to extremely transparent, wide open, and modern. Each chorus section gives you control over attack, depth, speed, and rate, as well as ensemble or solo options for ultimate control over the final results!
