Moog EP-3 Universal Polarity Expression Pedal

Moog EP-3 Universal Polarity Expression Pedal Reviews
The Moog EP-3 is the expression pedal you've been looking for. It's built like a tank and works with any synthesizer or effects pedal you can find. Seriously, what else do you look for in an expression pedal? You can fine-tune the EP-3 with an external level adjustment, giving you full control over how it interacts with your gear. It's the perfect expression pedal for Moog's moogerfooger effects pedals, and really anything else with an expression input. The 1/4" output works with any typical TRS cable, and it even comes with a six-foot cable ready to go. An innovative cam mechanism ensures smooth performance every time you perform with the Moog EP-3 expression pedal.
smooth pedal and control
I use with the ehx pitchfork as a whammy and it is fantastic. Provided cable isnt great but a nicer trs cable is a good investment for these pedals. For the price I can oversee its faults.
Performs!!
Just got the December Red Witch Pedals , which was designed with this model Expression pedal. Smooth operation!!
Great pedal. Cable problem.
I have two of these pedals, and have used them for a good long time. The pedal is built like a tank, the volume change is smooth, and it has a good feel to it. The rotating knob control seems to have different effects depending on the keyboard it's used with, but it's easy to learn regardless. I recommend it.
Why didn't I give it five stars, then? I went to pack up my gear recently, and the tip of the included cable broke off the cable itself and stayed inside my MIDI controller. I was able to dig out the black insulator, and whether by design or just dumb luck, I freed it of the tip of the cable. Given that the cable was no longer valuable, I went to remove the other end from the pedal, and the tip of it broke off in the pedal. I was able to pull out the plastic insulator, but the tip was there to stay. Fortunately, the Moog people were kind enough to recommend where I could find a replacement jack. I removed the old jack and soldered the new one into place, and it works once more.
I know. That never happens. But it happened to me. I've been working with keyboard and sound gear for over 50 years, and I've never seen it happen once, let alone twice on one cable. But it happened to me. If I had had to take a multi-hundred-dollar MIDI controller or workstation keyboard into the shop because that happened, my story wouldn't have ended nearly so happily. Is this experience unique to me, and will never happen to anyone else? Are you feeling lucky? I say be safe: when you buy the pedal, spring for a 5-foot TRS cable from a reputable supplier, like Sweetwater for one example, and recycle the one that comes with it.
I docked a star because the supplied cable broke inside my gear.

I was looking for a replacement "volume' pedal to use with my NORD keyboard. My previous unit "stair-stepped" when increasing or decreasing volume. This pedal worked PERFECTLY! Completely smooth audio throughout the range. I recommend it for use with NORD!!
Simple and solid
I bought this as a backup for my Boss EV-5. Now that I've had it for a couple of weeks, the Boss is at best a backup - I'm seriously considering ditching it and just getting a second Moog pedal.
Here's why.
1. I prefer having a 1/4" TRS jack (Moog) to an integrated cord (Boos). My expression pedal is literally right next to my Quad Cortex, so a 2' cable is both neater and replaceable.
2. The Boss pedal feels flimsy in comparison. I never noticed it before I got the Moog, but now the Boss feels kind of toy like.
Great value and well built
I am using this as an expression pedal but more like a volume pedal. I currently have this controlling the output volume of a Strymon Iridium. It's a little touchy at the closed position trying to slowly swell but it just takes a little getting used to. I'm not sure if it's the pedal or the Iridium but manually turning the output level knob on the Iridium seems pretty smooth, using the pedal it seems to jump pretty quick from no volume to more than I want lol. However, for the money, this thing cant be beat. I'll likely upgrade at some point but this is a keeper and I'll move it to control something else. It's built really well so I imagine it's gonna last a long time.
Saved my butt!
I haven't had an expression pedal in a long time! I'm not hip to the throw and range stuff that are so important to others. My research consisted of which one wasn't too expensive that was also available. I needed it ASAP. This one is working great for me. So far, I've only used it as a volume pedal though. I was playing a show with lots of Hammond (using B-3X from IK Multimedia through GigPerformer). Lots of dynamics! In the rehearsals I was just using knobs but that was tough to play when both your hands are busy with playing (as you might imagine).
This pedal allows me to have zero sound with it all the way down to full volume. There was plenty of range in there so I could play from pp to ff.
Great Pedal
I purchased the EHX Cockfight and was doing research on what EP to go with it and the Moog EP-3 kept getting the best reviews on the Sweet Water forum. This is for good reason. The pedal is a super high quality build, very solid with a nice thick gum rubber texture. It's the perfect size and has a very smooth and wide sweep forward and back, letting you get the maximum tonal range. Using it with the Cockfight, lets me find the sweet spot for making vowel sounds with the talking mode on and the full range of sweep makes it sound like a real talk box. I love this pedal and highly recommend it as it will be the only expression pedal I ever buy in the future. A BIG THANKS to Andrew, my Sales Engineer who's always a big help and a pleasure to talk to.
Better than Boss, very linear
I bought this pedal because it was recommended by Expressive E for use with the Osmose. I had previously tried the Boss EV-30, which is well-made, but not linear or stable enough to play nicely with Osmose. The EP-3 is bigger than it looks in the pictures, which is I prefer, and it's heavy and stays put while I'm playing. It's cable is also objectively higher-quality than what Boss ships. The Moog also has no dead spots and a somewhat longer travel, making it very... expressive, which is the point right?
I just bought a second one for use with thd 2nd Osmose expression input.
All Expression Pedals Should have These Controls
The best features on the EP-3, for me, are the polarity switch and the level adjustment. I wasted a lot of time trying to use a "Hex" expression pedal for my keyboard controller before figuring out that it had the wrong polarity. You have to re-solder a TRS cable to change it. What a pain! Then I found out that it didn't allow the full range (0-101 instead of 0-127) because it used a poor quality potentiometer. As a last resort, I hooked up the EP-3 that was controlling my rarely used MoogerFoogers, and after tweaking the level adjustment, it worked perfectly. Maybe the EP-3 isn't perfect for all applications or all users, but for me it's simply great! (Altho I may need another EP-3 to go with the MF's now)
Pedal is fine, but TRS cable was junk and dangerous
On my second use of this pedal, with normal and careful use -- the tip of the very flimsy-connection TRS cable broke and lodged itself in the pedal 1 input of my Fractal FM9. I can't get it out and have lost use of that input -- not what I expected from an established company!
A necessary tool, but not necessarily.
Great Alternative for Axe FX Expression Pedal
I saw someone suggest using the Moog EP-3 as an alternative to Fractal or Mission Expression pedals which are nearly twice as expensive. They were right! Bought two of these pedals and they work great. Use one as a Volume Pedal, which can be programmed to activate the Tuner in the Axe FX when in heel down position, and one for Wah, Whammy and other Modulation effects.
Unit is a sturdy build, pedal sits slightly higher than the FM9 (FM3) unit as well which is helpful.
Sweetwater's new Arizona distribution center also speeds up delivery times.
Good purchase
Built well works great.
Junk
I used this with my Line 6 HX FX a couple times and it worked fine. Didn't use it for about a year (just left it sitting in the same place), and when I plugged it into my HX FX it no longer worked. Don't waste your money on this.
It works
It works like it says. Pretty fun with the pitchfork..
Moog EP-3
I actually have this same one with my Matriarch Moog
Moon EP 3. Does not last
I play a few times a week and travel with this pedal. The end of the cable broke off inside the pedal. ( The replacement that i bought just broke as well after less than 90 days. Total junk. I ordered a Boss EV 30 today in hopes that it holds up under normal gigs.
Too big
It's a nice pedal, but way bigger than it needs to be. Makes it difficult to use the pedals around it. And the plug in is at the top point so this causes it to take up way more space. Something that could have been easily avoided. Not good for a guitar pedal board.
Moog ep-3
Very nice expression pedal has a very smooth feel to it as well,
Expression pedal
The expression pedal works great on my Casio Privia. Sweetwater advised me to get this model. They kindly sorted out which pedals would be compatible with my keyboard and made this recommendation. There was a was a bit of a learning curve to figure how to program the pedal into the Casio settings, but we figured it out. Thank you Sweetwater!
This is a great expression pedal.
It feels great and works really well, and the contour knob really helps you to dial in the parameter of a fader if you are using it as a midi controller for volume, etc.
Solid Pedal at a reasonable price.
I have owned a few different expression pedals over the years, and the EP-3 has lasted longer than any of them. Good build quality. Very sturdy. I have played multiple shows with the EP-3 in my setup and it has never failed me.
Nice feel on a plastic-cased pedal
Does not last
Broke after a few months use only at home
Does what it is supposed to
Plugged this thing into a bunch of different pedals and it worked well on all of them. I haven't tried any other expression pedals so I don't have a real frame of reference but it moved through the various controls well and can be adjusted to control the range it sweeps through(hope those are the correct words). I wish it came with a more substantial TRS cable but I don't hold that against it for the price.
Nice pedal, works great!
I would've given 5 stars, but it is 100% plastic. That said, the material is of the super tough abs type and it seems fairly indestructible. Nice to have the adjustable minimum volume control. Would buy again.
Moog Expression Pedal — Solid!
I bought this pedal to work with my Prophet XL. My Yamaha pedal had the wrong throw, and I asked Nate here at Sweetwater to find out what the best expression pedal for my Prophet is, because finding a Sequential pedal was nearly impossible.
It works great! Just the right throw, and hefty but very responsive. I'm very happy with it.
High quality construction, and does all it claims to do
This is a very well-built and durable expression pedal, which includes (I was not aware) a pedal calibration knob on its right side. The TRS patch cable is also included. I just received it yesterday, and it appears to be working perfectly. My Sales Engineer Tommy Heil was always right on the ball, and everything went smoothly, as I'd hoped... thanks, Tommy and Sweetwater! This won't be my last purchase :)
Works Perfectly
This pedal has a big range of movement and works very smoothly.
It works for all of my expression pedal applications.
Moog EP_3
One of the more expensive pedals that doesn't do anything at all on any synth I've tried it on, Moog, Sequential, Novation.
great expression pedal
I've had some bad expression pedals. Some really bad expression pedals. This one is great, and is built great. Works flawlessly with my EHX pitch fork
Really Great for the Price!
I use this with an Avalanche Run to control the time in reverse mode. I didn't know that the AR had a feature that was only usable by expression.
My favorite feature is controlling the spread of whatever you're using expression with. Very useful for a pitch pedal controller by limiting how wide the spread is per full sweep of the EP3.
Great Pedal works like a charm!
I use it for my Korg Kross 1 and it works amazingly! surprisingly very heavy! I don't know what I expected except great things from Moog!
Great value
I have owned this expression pedal 3 times now. I keep coming back because it continues to win out on value. Solid build. Never had a performance issue. My only negative (-1/2 star) is that it is big. I would pay $20 more if it was 3/4 size. Nonetheless, it does the job for my POD GO extension rig.
excellent value
Less expensive than it's EHX counterpart. Substantially better build quality.
Heavy. Solid. Smooth. Fluid.
Solid!
The EP3 is built like a tank. Feels good under foot with a nice throw. Registers 0-127 with smooth control.
Worlds better than the Roland EV5 I've been using.
Beastly foot pedal.. solid.
5 star.. just not for what I needed. Didnt do all my research first. apparently you cant just assign a filter to it thru Komplete Kontrol. Works great with my delay pedal tho ..
Mind Blowing!
Simply the best! Definitely better then all the rest in my past! Wicked amazing sound plugged into my keyboard (Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol) expanding the imagination through the sounds!
Thank you Sweetwater Team!
Great expression pedal
I have it plugged in to an old Novation SL61 and controlling the wah in Logic's pedalboard as well as assigning it to things like the filter cutoff in various software instruments (really easy to set up in Kontakt Play series and Spitfire Labs). It is so much fun to be able to play with two hands and tweak these settings. The pedal holds it's position well. It takes some getting used to - my movements were quickly jerking from 0-127 in the beginning but after practicing for a bit the pedal does allow subtle changes and seems to track my movements accurately. I wouldn't mind if it were closer to the ground, it does sit a little high.
Works great with Kurzweil and Roland boards plus others
Moog for the money
I have a couple of Behringer pedals for my other keyboards, but for another $... matched the Moog pedal to the Matriarch. It is not just a volume pedal but another piece to the patch bay. Mult it in and go crazy!
Ok for the price
This pedal is built solidly. Feels very stable underfoot. The detachable cable and polarity switch are nice features. The action is very smooth however, the response is not. The volume goes from 0 to full in a relatively short are and then there's a lot of dead space at the top end. The adjustment knob on the side doesn't really remedy this flaw. The result is difficulty making slow but smooth crescendos, etc. Definitely not the best pedal out there but for the price it's a viable option.
Moog EP-3 with Kurzweil PC3K7
Great Pedal.. Worked right out of the box. Left the pedal switch in Standard mode, Plugged into CC Pedal 1 on the Kurz, mapped it in my Native Instrument plugin's and it worked. Was leery about the PC3 10K compatibility issue that I've seen on the blogs but had no problem. Had asked for an out-of-stock pedal but Ed Nystrom (Sales Engineer) suggested this Moog EP-3.
Thank You Ed for your Great Customer Service..
Pro-quality expression pedal from Moog!
I have used other expression pedals, but this is the only expression pedal I will use live (until I find a better one.) I often play with heavy boots, so cheap plastic pedals don't work. The EP-3 is quality construction as expected from Moog. I use this with a Moog Sub37 in my studio and a Nord Stage 2 live. The only negative was the stereo cable I originally got with it. My cable went bad after a year or two of live use. I bought a heavy-duty pro cable to replace it, and that will be standard from this day forward!
It Gets the Job Done
I bought this expression pedal for use with an organ and it gets the job done. The price point is pretty unbeatable (compared to the many $150+ pedals) and the construction is very sturdy (it can take frequent use).
The only glaring issue for me is that the throw is a little short for my taste. Most organ expression pedals have a bit more range of motion, and I probably should have considered that before settling on the "budget option." That being said, there is a knob to adjust the "range," which helps fix this issue.
Excellent pedal
Have had the pedal for 2 weeks, using it for volume control on my Roland VR-730 keyboard. Works great, appears to be well-built, size is perfect and the polarity switch allows it to work with any keyboard. Highly recommend.
Pedal power
It does exactly as it should. Well worth the price.
Great with the Kemper Stage
This pedal is very well made, and works very smoothly, it is also very lightweight. I think I will get another one.
Moog EP-3 with Nord Electro 2
I like this expression pedal it's well built and smoothly functions. It works for the wah effect on my nord Electro 2 as well as a volume pedal for the organ tone. The shipping was fast and free as always, and you get a nice surprise with your order, Sweetwater has great sales engineers and customer service, as well as very informative articles and videos
So far, so good!
Though I have just recently received these pedals, they seem to be very well built and are very smooth in operation. I believe it to be a good by!
Well built pedal.
Solidly built expression pedal. Using it with my Casio PX 560. Initially had some trouble setting it up to work properly. Found a link on the Casio music forums with photos and followed suggestions. Seems to be working smoothly now.
Perfect with Eleven Rack
Works great with my Eleven Rack. It is now a fixture under the main desk in my control room!
Nothin impressive but scratching and noise.
Bought it for Minifooger pedal MF Boost, when expression pearl moved either forward or back it works like a random brown noise generator.
Total disappointment from Moog.
Return.
Really nice add on..
For my Avalanche Run V2 delay/verb. It works great and takes that delay verb to another level.
Excellent service from my sales rep Ben Porter ext 1275
Nice
This is perfect for my transmisser reverb but it is plastic but whatever it works perfectly
Moog EP-3 plus A Keeley Monterey Pedal
I occasionally use the wah circuit of my Monterey pedal in the studio and the EP-3 is the go-to controller I use. Mine is 2 years old( purchased from Sweetwater), and has seen enough use to pass the test; it's a durable piece of gear,studio-wise. Can't vouch for it as a live gig controller, but for many, this would be a good option to start with, especially at this price-point. Don't forget to set the level adjustment correctly! Test the polarity switch! Those two things solve most user problems.
Does not work with Helix... unless you do this!
This is an important note for those hunting for a cheaper Mission Engineering EP-1-L6, this pedal has improper impedance and will actually create incorrect curves when used with a Helix.
The amounts will create a sine wave that goes from 0-100-0 instead of a linear transition of 0-100.... for example.
The Helix likes TS Expression pedals, not TRS, so in order to make the EP-3 work, you can simple use a TRS to TS splitter cable, an put the TRS end into the EP-3 and the TS tip end into the helix. So instead of buying an EP-1-L6 you can buy this EP-3 and use this cable ....Hosa CMP-153 Stereo Breakout 3.5mm TRS to Dual 1/4" TS - 3'
and all will work just dandy.
Does what it should.
This is the second one of these I bought from Sweetwater. They work great with my Fractal AX8. Have not had any issues.
Depend On It
If your going to depend on it, buy one of the best. I asked Keith Owen to find me an Expression pedal and he gave me two choices, inexpensive and more expensive. I got the better one because I am depending on it working all the time. And it feels like quality, made well.
No tension
I've been struggling with this thing for a while. It's my first expression pedal, and I'm going to replace it with something sturdier. My issue is that there's no tension in the physical mechanism that raises and lowers the pedal. You tap this thing and it flaps down, take your foot off it and it lifts up. It's just unpredictable. I'm a vocalist and a guitarist and I need equipment to be reliable when I'm changing parameters of the effect while playing an instrument and singing. This might be fine for home use, I guess. But if your at a rehearsal or playing live, it's just unreliable.
Love it but.......
I own 5 of these pedals. Love the feel and build quality but it does not work with my NI Komplete Kontrol S88 even after using NI software for compatibility . Bought the Nectar expression and works fine
Works just fine - real test is at first gig, 7/21
I am using it with an Atomic Amplifire 12. It worked perfectly right out of the box with no problems. Calibrated easily with the AA12 instructions. Seems sturdy enough to stand up to non-abusive pedal work.
Mooged out!
My Roland EV-5 still works but feels light and poorly made. (They skipped on quality) The Moog on the other hand has a nice solid feel to it even though it's made of plastic. Smooth action & response when pressed. Works well for me. Would have been nice if it was an inch or 2 wider. But it's still a keeper.
want to return
Similar to several other reviewers; nothing happens for a while then it races through the sweep the last few degrees of the movement. Only slightly better than a switch as far as being a controller. Looking into returning.
Great Expression
I bought a pair of these to use with my Fractal Audio Systems AX8. They both work great, with a very smooth motion.
If looking for an Expression pedal this is the one!
I bought 2 more of these pedals. I now have a total of 4 in the studio and for a very good reason.
The quality is simply superb. The pedals feel solid, extremely well constructed and the price feels like a bargain when looking at other brands that cost more and are of far lesser quality.
Sweetwater customer service is an unparalleled experience, like watching a beautifully fine-tuned and well-crafted machine in action. I admire AJ Becerra and his superb support team for their level of professionalism. They have become friends!
Good Moog quality
Using this with my Nord Piano 3, gives me great control over swells. The feel of the pedal is smooth and gives you great expressive control.
Solid and flexible
The only think you might not like is the low amount of travel, but I actually prefer it. It also stands pretty high off the ground.
Not impressed
My broke within four months. I would rather spend more money for a much more durable pedal rather than this plastic one. The motion of the pedal does not feel too smooth, but rather very rigid.
Express yo self.
It does what it does, and it does it real well. The trim knob is particularly useful, as i use it for my avalance run, but would be very useful in any other aplications as well. Best expression pedal out there as far as i know, and the price is right.
Moog EP-3 Expression Pedal
As usual, Sweetwater was the best and fastest of all. They are the standard by which all musical instrument sales should be held to.
Great Expression Pedal
Lightweight, sturdy and works great. And you can't beat the price!
Perfect Fit
Perfect fit for my Fractal Audio FX8. Simple connectivity, function and well built.
Great pedal
Great construction and nice pedal to work with.
Great pedal
Great construction and nice pedal to work with.
Awesome Expression Pedal!!!
This Moog expression pedal has everything you need...polarity switch on the bottom and an amount potentiometer on the side. What's also cool is that the cord is not permanently attached like other EP pedals..so you can plug in a longer cord if you want. Definitely recommended!
A WINNER
I bought the Moog EP-3 as an economical alternative to its Kurzweil counterpart (to which it bears a strong resemblance) for my Artis 7, not knowing if it was compatible because it wasn't specifically listed by name, as several others are, on the Kurzweil website. No worries, it works just fine. The construction appears to be plenty durable, and the field replaceable cable is a big plus. Altogether, quite a bargain in my opinion.
Perfect!
Works exactly as advertised, very well-built and solid. A great feature is the easily adjustable range dial on the side, much better than the overblown calibration schemes of some expression pedals.
for sub 37
Works great, no real flaws. Even has a limiter knob. Not the sturdiest exp pedal ever, but a good price and solid stuff from moog as always. The s37 has assignable control for each of the 4 cv inputs and they all work great on their own. I like using the amp to swell the volume and this leaves your hands free to work with other things. Works with my other pedals/interfaces as well. Doubles as a toggle switch for Guitar Rig if you want. Comes with cable.
Doesn't work with Space pedal
This pedal does not calibrate properly with devices like the Eventide Space pedal. It hits 100% when the throw of the pedal is at about 60%, of the top range of the pedal sweep has zero effect.
This may work with Moog gear, but don't expect it to work with anything else.
Almost Unusable
Had high hopes for this pedal based on all the positive reviews, however my experience was obviously much different. The pedal's output was far from linear. The first 80% range of motion only got me to 50% output, and then the last half inch of travel would shoot it up to 100% output. I found it nearly impossible to make any small adjustments above 50%. I ended up having to reverse my input parameters and turn the pedal around backwards which because of the shape was difficult. I guess you get what you pay for and thus the attractive price.
Perfect!
Perfect to tame the Moogerfooger Ring Modulator giving freedom to the hands to play guitar!
EP-3
It's the perfect companion to my MF's.
Excellent - Midi Range adjustment
Excellent qualify - I love it. One thing that had me thinking I had a defective unit: On the side there's is a little dial ("External level adjustment lets you fine-tune the full range of motion"). When dialed all the way up the CC receives 0 ... 127. However, if dialed back the range is reduced. My "as shipped" setting gave me midi CC11 0 .. 70. Worth keeping an eye on if it does not perform as expected.
I'm using it with a Kurzweil PC3LE8 and several VSTs (Albion, EWQL, etc.). All works as expected.
Solid Expression Pedal
This is a physically solid expression pedal with all of the necessary features, at a good price. I have bought several of them.
It's all good
The Moog brand is generally respected in the music industry for it's high quality, reliable and well appointed hardware and these pedals live up to that reputation. They have a smooth action and the range of the controlled effects are evenly distributed across the full sweep of the pedal. They don't slip around on hard surfaces and the mating surface feels solid and stable under my foot. Given the excellent form and function of these pedals I think that certain other expression and volume pedals are over priced. I seriously doubt there is a better sweep type foot controller on the market.
Does what it's supposed to
I've had it for a week and it works. It's plastic, so I gave it a 4 instead of 5, but feels very sturdy.
If you're on the fence about buying an expression pedal, buy it. I've never used an expression pedal before, and the sonic possibilities this opens up are fantastic. I've tried it with my Moog Phaser and Dwarfcraft Gears, and some wonderfully crazy sounds emerge.
Terrific pedal
It's inexpensive, it's solid, it works perfectly. Not much else to say... but then again, nothing else need be said.
Express Yourself
Great build quality and a solid feel really adds to the fun of playing my Sub 37 for only $40. I have two that I use for the pitch and filter CV options. Also' it comes with the TRS cable needed to connect it to the keyboard unlike the $125 Mission Engineering expression pedal I bought for my Eventide H9.
Great value..
This is my first expression pedal, so I was looking for something on a budget. This is a nice smooth working pedal that does what it is supposed to...nice long cord....it is plastic but seems rugged enough...I'm sure there are metal ones available at higher prices but for my use...light duty gigging not too much traveling & banging around, I don't know why anyone would pay more....very pleased with this & Sweetwater service is second to none!....
Solid
Works with Boss GP10. Very happy, solid.
Works with the Boss GP-10
Great pedal, very well made. It dose work with the Boss GP-10 but you need to set the polarity switch on bottom correctly. Volume range is (30% to 100%) only. I use it for volume control so I can free up the expression pedal on the GP-10 for other controls.
Moog EP-3 Expression Pedal
Decent expression pedal. I thought it would be sturdier than advertised. I bought it to use with my Eventide H9 pedal. It worked but not as good as it should. It jumped in variance much too quickly when closer to the heel position. I tried it with a Strymon Lex Rotary pedal and it seemed to respond better. It just did not work as I need it to when plugged into the H9.
Love it!
Easy to use. It's plastic, but it's still surprisingly hefty. Works perfectly right out of the box. I can't say enough good things about it. I'm using mine with a G-system I just got from Sweetwater. I'm not sure why one owner said the moog cable was a different TRS cable. It uses the standard layout for a trs-trs cable. I ordered a shorter cable with right angle plugs to fit my pedalboard and it worked flawlessly. It does not use a standard guitar cable which is a tip-sleeve cable. (TS) but it definitely does utilize the standard wiring for tip-ring-sleeve. (TRS) Looks like a 1/4" stereo headphone jack on both ends. I liked it so much, I ordered a second one.
Almost universal
Cheap, heavy enough, and the polarity switch is great since yamaha doesn't like to play with friends like my rolands and nords. I'd give it 5 stars, but I can't find the same kind of TRS cable to make it work right when I leave the stock cable at home! It's not a standard stereo cable, I'll tell you that.
Works great when you have the Moog cable -- don't forget it!
Expaning possibilities
This expression pedal really opens up the possibilities of your effects. I bought it to use with my MoogerFooger Ring Modulator, and want to add at least one more. As well as more MoogerFoogers!
Built Well... Works Great
I am using this as an expression pedal for my Roland VK-7 Organ. Why pay up to $200 or more? This does everything you want it to do for 40 bucks. It's well made and works great. The only thing I would possibly change is that I would like it to completely shut off when pulled all the way back. I will be buying more for my other keyboards.
Great pedal
Pedal is built like a tank. Works great with my Roland keyboard. The cable is a bit thin but does the job.
Works fine with SoftStep
Bought it to work with my SoftStep foot controller. When I first connected it it did not work at all, but I discovered that the problem was with the adapter cable supplied with Softstep which had a short in it. When I used my own adapter, it worked just fine.
Quality Pedal
For the money and as an alternative to your standard ~$100 Boss, EHX, Ernie Ball pedal it's a great choice. The feel of it is better than anything else I've tried and looks good. It's durable enough for me, half a star for being all plastic, but this is $40 were talking about. Really the smooth, controlled feel is the best part. Great Moog product!
Awesome Pedal
I'm blown away by the quality of this pedal for the price. It is a really great pedal...I think I'll have this for years to come. It is a no brainer if you are looking for a rugged pedal that is smooth...very smooth. Any other pedal of this quality would be $80-$100 easily...pick it up you won't be disappointed.
I got this as a gift from my wife...thanks to our sales engineer Paul...always great service. I have been a Sweetwater customer for over a decade...I see myself being a customer for decades to come.
God bless and thanks!
