A Gorgeous Les Paul Standard for a Song

The Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro packs a punch. Sporting ProBucker pickups with coil tapping and a stunning AAA flame maple veneer top, this impressive solidbody electric guitar gives you legendary LP tone and playability — as well as jaw-dropping good looks — at an amazing price. With the Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro, you can play nuanced rhythm parts with a chiming single-coil setting on the neck pickup, then launch into an aggressive humbucking lead. We're talking serious tonal versatility. No matter your musical genre, you'll love the Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro.

A universe of tone from tapped ProBuckers

The ProBuckers on the Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro feature Alnico II magnets - the same as sought-after vintage PAF humbuckers — for rich, warm tone with crystalline highs and a tight bottom. With a ProBucker-2 in the neck position and a (slightly overwound) ProBucker-3 in the bridge position, crank your gain, and you can do some serious damage. We're talking legendary Les Paul — fat, snarling tone served up with days of sustain. Excited? There's more. You also get coil tapping controlled by push-pull volume pots, giving you an infinite variety of sounds from single-coil spank to full humbucker shred. This Paul is a tone machine.

The Les Paul backstory

The Les Paul backstory actually started with an instrument dubbed The Log. In the early 1940s, on a quest for an electric guitar that would sustain for days, Les Paul — the legendary guitarist and inventor — fashioned what may well have been the first solidbody guitar from a length of common 4" x 4" lumber. For appearances (and possibly playing comfort), Les sawed an Epiphone hollowbody in half and attached the two wings to either side of The Log. Les continued to develop the idea through a series of prototypes, ultimately resulting in the classic solidbody guitar we know and love.

With a Les Paul, you're in good company

From rock to fusion and beyond, the Les Paul's surly snarl has virtually defined attitude-laden overdrive guitar sound. Legendary guitarists such as Jimmy Page, Al Di Meola, Alex Lifeson, Slash, and countless others have forged their signature sounds with a sunburst Les Paul. Epiphone now gives you the opportunity to experience that one-of-a-kind tone and look at an amazingly affordable price with the Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro. What's more, the Plustop Pro comes with Epiphone's limited lifetime warranty and is backed by Gibson's 24/7/365 customer service — so you know you're making a solid investment.

Was looking for a Les Paul and didn't want to wait a few years to save up for a Gibson. I had a few preferences: Standard, plated humbuckers, arch top, sunburst and binding. This totally fit the bill so I ordered one from my rep Ian Roegels and he recommended a set up so I got one. It arrived and I was blown away. I was playing a Strat most of my life and after a few minutes of getting used to the guitar I was riffing like crazy. I had an initial concern when the tuning went out frequently but a little bit of bicycle lube on the nut took care of that. I love this guitar, I might but a fe more Epi's of various styles before getting a Gibson. Amazing service from folks who will do whatever it takes to make you happy. Thanks.

What A Buy!

This Guitar is beyond beautiful...AND IT SOUNDS EVEN BETTER THAN IT LOOKS ... My only gripe is the fret work. Its perfect up to the 10th fret, and then it gets a bit sctrachtey. I live in So Cal, and my guitar bounced around in a Fed-Ex truck for at least a whole day in 115 degree heat, and still was almost in tune.. After I did some truss rod work , I adjusted the bridge a bit, My guitar started to sing... An E major chord sustains for 60 plus seconds from a 25 watt 1-12 combo amp... The tone from this guitar is like something you dream about.. Chunky and snarley , and glassy all at the same time. The coil tap feature surprised me. it doesn't give you a crappy Strat-like sound, its more like a backed off P-90 sound. Rich and full with a sweet chime to it.; Really cool! This is one totally sweet axe that anyone who loves a Les Paul would be proud to own. And didn't I say it's totally beautiful?Sweetwater Rocks!!

Great Guitar

I played a 1965 Gibson Les Paul for a few years back in the day. Lately I have been interested in getting back to it but the price was holding me back...then I ordered this guitar...wow felt just like my Les Paul but a bit lighter. You can't go wrong with this instrument.

killer les paul

I have owned 20+ Gibson les pauls over the past 35 years and this epiphone les paul is very nice. its worth twice what I paided for it. the honey burst finish looks like an old les paul. the flame in the top is beautiful. it should be in the book, beauty of the burst. it sounds and plays great. the neck feels like the Gibson '58 vos reissue I once owned. I could go on and on but its late. thanks epiphone for making such a beautiful guitar. its a true work of art.
